Performance exhaust fitted... But :(

Hi all,

Got the performance exhaust fitted on my e92 (325i). But the exhaust tips stick too far out. It looks weird. I am not giving it back to the guys that fitted it as I don't trust them to make changes as they thought this was how it should look.

It's about 1/1.5 inches further out than stock. I looked under and they've fitted it correctly with the clamp (not welded). Can this be fixed?

Hey!

You don't hang about do you? If you would like, I can check it for you and amend it if necessary.

You know my number!

Kind regards,
Marshall.

It takes some time to get it right. I like mine flush with the bumper. There is room for adjustment with the clamps. If you need to cut more, cut the section with the secondary cats.

Here's some pics of what was done. No idea why there's paste used which is annoying but nothing else seems foo*ked. Unless I'm not seeing something?

When done properly there was no need for the nasty paste stuff they used. The Oem clamp will seal it up perfect every time.

Am I missing something but surely the amount it sticks out is set by the hanger positions? Or is there adjustment in those?

As it sticks out as opposed to being to deep in I'm guessing they cut too little as opposed to too much which is a positive.

They've managed to fix it to the two hangers correctly and the clamp is positioned correctly, they've even put the "acoustic distributor" on so those are the good points. Only issue is the sticking out.

Thanks to mrmlee I'm going to get it redone by a technician who knows what he is doing with these.

I agree. Won't be driving it until the day it's off to a trusted technician to put right and I'll upload pics (hopefully).

To me it just looks like the pipe hasn't been cut back far enough, I'd expect the exhaust rubber mountings to hang inline rather than in the picture where they look to be about an inch or so back. Unless they have just not pushed the two pipes together enough when doing up the clamps

This is what I was thinking. I do hope it is the case. If they had cut too far it would have been a whole different kettle of fish!

They need to just adjust it as they haven't either cut it at the correct point or they've left too large a gap between the pipes inside the clamp. Certainly isn't correct with the hanger being as it is.

But agree that's way too much paste they've used.

I'm guessing there's nothing irreversible or serious so not too worried as I won't use the car until re-fit day.

I just want it to be done properly ffs

The clamp is original it was supplied with the exhaust. I'm sure this clap can simply be unbolted and re-used?

Been considering getting a PE for my 330i, other than the fitting issues you're having do you think they're worth the cash?
