[VIC] Calder Park Drag Day Sunday 16th July
For those interested, this will be a fun night to go for a squirt and catch up with everyone! We haven't had an event in Melbourne for a while. I thought a drag night at Calder Park might be a better event to catch up over, than dinner or hanging out at a parking lot like our last two meets LOLL
Event Summary: Cost: $75 (for one driver and one car, passengers/spectators pay an additional $25 each) Notes: -Cars must conform to scrutineering before allowed on the strip -Drivers must bring their own Australian Safety Standards approved helmet -Everyone is welcome, including spectators (note; spectators and passengers pay $25 each for entry) -No Cams license required, no need to fit fire extinguisher -See you all there, drags are fun, and compared to tracks, they pose less risk of accidents, easier on the brakes, don't require that much skills and driving tactics (just be careful when doing a burnout to warm up the tires), and significantly less engine/mechanical issues as you're only going full throttle for 12-13 seconds! See you all there.. Date: Sunday 16 of July, however, if the weather isn't optimum on that day, or if more than 50% of the interested people are unable to make it on this date, the event will be postponed to the following Sunday, 23rd of July. Time: -Gates open at 4:30pm -Racing starts at 6:00pm -Scrutineering closes at 8:45pm (you must get there before this time and have your car inspected, otherwise you won't be allowed on the strip) -Racing concludes at 10:30pm We will meet up at 5:00pm at the place to line up for scrutineering, catch up, have a chat... etc. before the racing starts at 6:00pm Location: -Melbourne (Calder Park Raceway) Aerial view: Map view: Link to event's website: http://www.calderparkdragracing.com....s/street-meets

Serial Driver a helmet is a requirement in VIC. They won't allow you on track without a helmet. In fact in scrutinering after they inspect car the car they ask to view your helmet to make sure it meets their requirements.
Unless its changed (which) I doubt you'll need a helmet to race |

Also can I add whilst skills required is substantially less, just need to watch when you're doing a burnout, I have seen inexperienced drivers nearly wall it, with rear wheels drive cars.
Also on the day, if you end up lining up against a drag car, just let it go. Time starts when you get off the line i.e. factors in reaction time |

Ahh right, there was nothing mentioned on their website about helmets. I updated the events details in the first post.

Event is still on, unfortunately I won't be able to make it anymore because some someone vandalised my car while parked in front of my house overnight . And it's going to be at the repairer over the weekend for the insurance assessor to go check it out. I'll either get it back repaired in a month's time, or I'll get my insurance payout.
In the meantime, I am driving a 1.7 tons car, that's pulled my a 4 cylinder 140kW Honda Accord Euro Luxury Navi, there's no way in hell I am bringing this to the drags hahah I might still come to watch if I wasn't at home crying over my car

I will most likely get there between 9-9.30am.
Noticed a misfire the other day that hasn't come back, although I might drive around for a bit on Sat to make sure its still not happening on WOT otherwise taking to track on Sun will be a waste. Anyhow hopefully its nothing major because i would like to go for a run on Sun, been a while! |

@Serial Driver
Note: car runs PI with Fuelit stage 3 LPFP on 100% e85 so in winter long cranks due to fuel vs failing parts bit difficult to work out (for me anyway) For last couple of months have had long cranks, occasional rough idle in the mornings. On one particular occasion 2 weeks ago I heard misfiring standing behind the car, however got no codes then after 5 mins of driving it went away. On last Sat morning the half engine light came on as I reversed from the garage with the following codes. I noticed the fan also turning on max but didn't get any waterpump codes: 29E0 - DME Mixture control 29F1- DME Fuel pressure plausibility 2A2B - DME mixture control 2AAE - DME Fuel pump I don't really have any recent logs except from the last time I headed to the tracks in April this year. In this i noticed the LPFP dipping to 45-50psi on 3rd and 4th gear higher up in the rpm. At the same time the rail pressure dropped closer to 1000psi. However, the AFRs for both banks were stable and the STFTs also stayed within a tolerble range. I got no misfires and zero timing corrections. Log below: *http://www.datazap.me/u/tawfeeqh/cal...zoom=2891-3094 I contacted steve at fuelit showing him the logs and he said perhaps its an issue with the wiring. To me it felt like the secondary pump was switching off too early and thats why the rail pressure dropped too. Nizpro tried replicating on the dyno but didn't see the LPFP behaving in the manner it was at the track. I think Steve also mentioned adjusting the hobb switch so they did that. I was totally confused and haven't really investigated much after that. I wasn't getting any codes with the above log too. This is another log from last year when I ran the 11.1-11.2 sec 1/4 miles. In this the LPFP appears a bit more stable than the April log above. Not sure maybe I need an external fuel regulator. *http://www.datazap.me/u/tawfeeqh/hea...20&zoom=66-264 My car is not my daily and driven a very minimal amount only on the weekends, so sometimes its weeks until it gets any decent WOT. I thought I would investigate the issues and iron out before the better weather from Sep onwards for the track. Finally for the three years I have owned the car I haven't really had the common n54 failures apart from the waterpump. I have not changed the HPFP, injectors or coils. I did change the rear o2 sensors last week though. Am running NGK spark plugs with larger gapping and haven't changed in 10,000km. Well hopefully someone can give some advise on the above. Any thoughts Coupes33 |

im running full e85. pi and stg 3. i had long warm cranks and found out it was from 3 slightly leaking mmp port injectors when the car is off. replaced these and instance cranks now on e85 all t2hr time.
also before pi, 2 x index 9 injectors whr leaking casuing long warm cranks also. replaced them and that fixed thr long crank on warm start.
