Well thats odd. Just had a meter on it and its 14v. Carly is also now saying 14v. Gonna keep a close eye on this.

Run the vin through whatever decoder you fancy. If it has the regenerative braking option, it'll try to maintain battery level at around 80%, so charging will cut in and out. This is so that it can charge at full rate on overrun/braking, in order to recover maximum energy.

Well I take it back. Just checked my vin in a couple of decoders and my car apparently does have 'Brake Energy Regeneration'!

That would explain why it wants an AGM battery then, too. I reckon all is well

If you're not sure you can get a new voltage regulator for the alternator (instead of replacing the whole thing). It is often only the voltage regulator that fails.

The battery that came out of it was a lead acid type.
