I would like to make a thread to post alot of photos of this item as well as a review of the product. There isnt much information about them so I hope this can be a resource for others.

I bought them the other day when they were on sale from Bimmian. They shipped to me by Philadelphia and were here in 3 days with cheapest shipping option. This was my first Bimmian purchase.

I ordered a 4300K HID kit from HPB to use in these. I opted for non canbus as I plan to just code them correctly.

They are well built and the finish on the front is very OEM. The lenses themselves are clear with no ridges or anything. Contrary to what Ive been told these were most definitely H11 bulbs and not 9006.

My one complaint is that they do not list bulb specs on the site, nor on the housing, nor through email when I asked. The item does not come with any sort of paperwork except your receipt. Packaged very well, but no instruction or specs.

Overall frame and housing seems like a durable ABS type plastic. The projector housing and lens assembly are of high quality metal. When shining a flashlight through it made a very sharp cutoff line and good spread of the beam. I will know better and update real results when theyre on the car tomorrow, and even more so when the HID kit gets here.

This thread will be updated as I add more photos and give my opinion of these units.


UPDATE 2/4/12

I installed the housings and they really make the front of the car look better. They match the appearance of the front of the car more, and look great with the stock Xenon projectors. I ran into a few snags while installing them.

It happens to be a major gripe with Bimmian. The bolts that hold the projector housing into the chassis are crap. I have photos of the stainless steel bolts I replaced them with from Home depot for $3. You need (4) of the bolts, and (4) of the nuts. You are replacing the black bolt and the knurled brass bolt where the projector housing is attached to the chassis. I highly recommend doing this now, rather than later on when they break. I snapped two of them during install with minimal force.

Here is what happens when you go to install them. It seems like the threading is pressed in place in the knurled top portion, and definitely not made to take any sort of torque on it.





The cutoff line is clear and the spread of light is fine. I will say that with the OEM H11 Halogens, light output is less than ideal. I will be adding more photo once my 4300K HID kit gets here, and more install photos.

HPB HID kit coming this week. Will update with review of them, more photos, and some more in depth install photos.

Kit seems solid enough. Bought the one without error cancelling since I am coding out the checks. They match OEM low beam quite nicely, and seem to be of decent quality.

Looks great! I wish a vendor would make a nice solution for the E90 LCI's with the non M-Sport Bumper (E90 LCI and I believe Pre-LCI w/M-Sport can use projector fogs designed for the E60 Pre-LCI non M-Sport...if that makes sense)

I was actually going to pull the trigger on those but I didn't like the matted black look. I wish someone would make one with a "Stock" housing but a projector inside; kind of like the xenon headlights. I'd buy a set of those in a heart beat!

You read my mind. While doing the install I realized how easily it can be done too. Buy a projector housing from the retrofit source for about $40, modify the stock fog housing. Would be very simple. I agree with you completely. Mow that I own these I'm happy with them. They're on sale right now. Hope my thread helps out. Couldn't find anything about these spec wise or photos. Only what's on bimmian.

so im assuming these are supposed to direct the light output. Can you see a difference in visibility from the fog lights?

They have a much more defined output pattern than the oem fog lights. They have a very sharp, distinct cutoff line much like the OEM Adaptive Xenons do. If they're aimed correctly you get much better control of where the light goes than with the oem ones. I had the intention of getting an HID kit for my fogs, and didn't want to blind other people and thought a projector housing would be ideal.

So far with the same H11 bulbs from the stock housings, the pattern is much better, and the same amount of light is put forward. They're for aesthetics as well as making the light better.

So to answer your question. The available light is being used more efficiently. When I get the HID kit in it will be much more light, but not scatter and be more controlled. They're relatively the same as far as output as the stock ones with a more defined area of light so I guess they're a tad better.

yea i have HID's in now and the light just goes everywhere. I was looking at these, and i think ill get them in the summer. so it is still an H11 bulb then?

Yea a lot of people told me they were 9006 including bimmian when I emailed them. I placed an order for 9006 HID then got the fogs and had to change my order. They are definitely H11 and I'm using the H11 halogens that came stock with the car. Do yourself a favor and buy the screws from Home Depot tho. 3 bucks.

I did buy an aftermarket fog light housing. However, I have a problem with the adjustment part and still trying to figure out what will work. The problem is that the plastic arm that is used for the adjustment is kinda soft. Obviously, it's fine to adjust the reflector since that is light but if I hooked up a projector lens to it, it'll be too heavy and it will most likely bounce up and down as I drive.

I need to find a way to retrofit the arm, extend it into the housing, attach a lens to the reflector with a shield, and make it all waterproof.

Go an email from Bimmian today thanking me for this thread. They also said they will look into the screw issue and it sounds like theyll swap them out for better ones. They gave me a coupon to make up for me having to buy other screws. They were very good and should be using some of these photos on their site. Happy with their customer service.

I may have done them differently myself, happy with them at this point tho. I think if my grilles were painted a darker black to match and not such a faded grey they would flow better. The photos i took are also ground level and they look better when you see them standing up.

I will possibly recommend this kit when I hear back from Bimmian. Very bad manufacturing tolerances.

This kit has some very good potential to be great, but these very important aspects need to be addressed. I will update my OP when I see how this is handled.

They fit the one side but it was loose in the other side and fell out at one point. The housings are machined wrong. Waiting for bimmians response.
