Anyones a/c turn on randomly?
Ive been noticing my a/c comes on and i think maybe i forgot and turn it on. Yesterday i paid close attention to it and it really does come on by itself, what is up with this?

Yup...
Here's my thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84534 The A/C periodically turns on intermittently. After it turns on by itself, I turn it off, and a few seconds later, it turns back on. Does this a few times then tends to subside for a few months. Always seems to come back on. The interesting thing is that when it happens for the first time in awhile, both the driver/passenger temps are set to 60. After turning it off, when it turns back on again by itself, the driver side is set to 60, but the passenger side bumps to 61... and the next time, 60/62... So it sounds like a software issue.

That's bizzare. If the heater starts coming on and the car whispers "Get out", then you should take it to the dealer....or get out.

I thought I was losing my mind when this first happened to me. I'd be driving and all of a sudden I'm wondering why I'm so cold. Then I look down and see the AC on. I'd turn it off and then realize it was back on seconds later. At first there were minute lapses between it turning back on... then it became shorter and shorter til it literally would turn back on as soon I turn it off.
I concluded that it had something to do with the wiring because a couple days prior I was getting the warning light for my brake lamp. Freaking bmw needs to get their sh*t together. Either that or I need to have a seance in my car or throw some holy water on it or something. |

Same happened to me, until i realized one of my temperature knob was stuck between 2 grids. Adjust both knobs and make sure it is not half-turned.

Maybe this has something to do with the "parked car" feature in iDrive. Mine is currently programmed to circulate the air in my e92 twice a day for twenty minutes at 09:00 and 17:40. I don't know what happens if you get in the car and turn it on... I'd imagine the A/C would just shut off, but perhaps not. Andrew |
