bluetooth retrofit problem

Followed a diy bluetooth retrofit on this forum for my 07 335i with 640 phone
preperation. From my understanding along with all the other hardware I could use the tcu module instead or the mulf module. I went with the tcu module and installed all of the other hardware aswell. I had a local guy come and try to code it for me using ncsexpert but he said the ecu read didnt acknowledge the tcu for coding. This is where I am stuck right now.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
