Hi could anybody please help? My e90 318d won't start. Symptoms started with an engine judder then engine management light with loss of power and then cut out and now won't start and rattles when you try turn it over. Fault codes are P1278?? , P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low and P0088 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High

Timing chain? What's the mileage and year?

September 2008 reg. mileage is 119500. Thanks

is there a slight electrical/whirr sound when turning it over?have to listen closely.

When you say "try to turn it over" does the engine actually turn over or just rattle when you try?

you need to give more info..like is it manual?any work done recently like injector/glow plug unit etc etc

No recent work been carried out. The engine won't start it try's to and rattles then cuts out and abit of white smoke come out of the exhaust. It's a manual gear box. Thanks

I'm not sure what fault code p1278 is I found that on a forum. Don't think my engine is 8 cylinders??
