Anyone know where the best places to advertise are?
I've got it on drive.com.au and carsales.com.au....would they be the main ones? I think there's also carpoint.com.au and tradingpost.com.au but don't know how popular all of the sites are... |

I had great success selling my previous car through carsales.com.au. But success depends on setting a realistic sell price. If your sell price is same but higher than dealer price, you might find it hard to get a bite. Unfortunatly when wanting to sell a car you are stuck between two evils. One being the dealer or wholesaler who wants to offer nothing for your car as they want to maximise their return and the other being the private buyer who is looking for a bargin.
Good luck with the sale. I know how stressful it can be especially when you have plans to move onto something else. |

I think it is linked now...
Yes, it is stressful, but self-imposed I guess. I've bought and sold 6 new cars in the past 7 years and to be honest I am well and truly over it...won't be changing my 130i for a long time now. Had some offers (all cooincidentally the same price!), but it appears that many people: a) want a sunroof b) Don't want Artic Silver I originally bought artic because I thought it would be a popular colour, but looks like the Graphite is the most popular - I rarely see Artic ones... ....and I bought the wheels instead of a sunroof (people couldn't seem to care less what wheels you have). |

Oh and whilst I'm on the topic of options, don't bother with the $1150 10 speaker hi-fi...yes, it does sound better than the stock one (only at higher volumes though), but I've put systems in other cars for half the price that sound much better.

James,
Your dead right .... it doesn't matter what you have when you try to sell something as someone always wants something else. Don't worry ... there is a buyer for everything !!!. I agree that trying to sell a presteige car without a sunroof is very hard. It has been a must have option for my last 4 cars. Wheels do seem to be lower on the shopping priority. I surpose you can always change them later but you can never add a "factory" roof. Good Luck .... |

You are very right indeed, there is a buyer for everything, but it's still supply and demand. I guess there is a reason why most BMW ex-demo cars have factory sunroofs and little else!
It's just that the $2750 price for a sunroof is a hard pill to swallow. Hmm, saying that, we pay $1600 for metallic paint... |

So, if you get the sports pack, metallic paint and sunroof you are already talking $9k which is money that is hard to get back. I've done it once and lost a tremendous amount so doing it again is a hard sell :-( |

Very true James so really options are all about what you want in the car that makes you happy. The options (like the car itself) are not investments. The money spent on a sunroof will depreciate at the same rate. Some options like metalic paint and larger wheels and electric blinds will depreciate in total value as soon as you drive out the door but you order those things for your personal pleasure.
