Shoutout to BRR tuning.

Just got my car back together after a LONG rebuild process. Decided to go with a BRR tune after he VOLUNTARILY offered a great deal of help before he was banned from this site. If you are looking for tuning options and don't want to pay the 1200++ price I HIGHLY recommend you hitting OG 335dsleeper up. ( PM me for his info ) Excellent customer service and response times along with the great tune. My previous tunes were from ECOTUNE and DUDMD, his tune FAR exceeds both of those. There are several others on this site that can vouch for him and his knowledge and tunes. Hopefully some of them will add to this post.

Yep! Highly recommend. I was going to go with either BPC or JR. Really awesome guy and communicates really well. He's helped me with a lot of my repairs on my 335d as well as advice for parts and maintenance. And lastly has let me pick his brain on some things like modifying my idle on cold days in Maine to help with warm up time.

Also have a dyno thread somewhere on this forum if anyone wants to see numbers and curves. Hoping to get it back on the dyno this summer after I get the meth in and new intercooler in. Also would love to get it on the drag strip this summer too

One more vote for BRR. I did deletes on a customer's car and he did the tune. The car is like a rocket now. I have 335i with boltons and I was still impressed with the D

I’d have to ask what makes his tune so good?

We’ll see if the customer support scales when more than a handful of people buy it. One man shop?

Less experience with the platform and long term testing would be things I’d say as cons. Other tunes like jr and box have more shelf life and haven’t been shown to damage engines. No comparisons, but good another tune option has shown up.

There are like what 4 or 5 now? Jr, bpc, Malone, now brr?

Variety is nice, I suppose. My last car had about this many options as well. Usually only 1 or 2 actually innovate the rest are just cheaper alternatives.

Btw this is gorilla advertising guess he’s too small..

correct still small, but he is working an a website. He was 335dsleeper on this site, his knowledge on the m57 is very strong. after i do my carbon cleaning I'm hitting the dyno and the track! I'm about three weeks from completing my M57 blasting setup! (once up and going i can do M57 and N54)

Like stoner mentioned, BRR is extremely knowledgeable with the M57 platform, possibly even more than the vendors that just sell the mainstream tunes, lack of experience for sure isn't case here. How many people in this forum are capable of fully rebuild an engine and tune their own car?

Not many, and not many have the time to tweak too.

However, having had several tuned cars over the years, sometimes the hobbyist can pull of amazing feats.

Sometimes the experienced engineer tuners can accomplish things that are way beyond an experimenter. I saw this with APR they had a pretty decent tune for the k04 turbo on an ea888 gen 1 engine. Then they hired a guy who was an engineer for Audi’s racing team. He took aprs tune to a whole different level in version 3.0 that transformed the car.

https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthre...em-Version-3-0!

High power increase at all rev ranges, avoided turbo surging, improved part throttle response, and etc. there is a lot more than just good Dyno numbers, particularly transient responses. It would be nice to see how various tunes compare to each other in drivability performance, fuel economy, transient behavior etc. since we have options I’d like too try some of these out.

Exactly.. BRR spent thousands of hours tweaking his tunes and they don't disappoint, more importantly he makes sure the tunes are also safe.

Unlike other vendors that create, modify and sell tunes for multiple platforms BRR is solely dedicated to M57s and if you ask me that is a big advantage.

I can say that the tune I had for my tdi was from a supposed to notch guy. When I got my mpps and started to look at the maps, it was not so special. He didn't understand quite a few tables and that's where surge issues came from (not fueling!). It's funny because everyone was convinced that the vnt couldn't correct for that but they were wrong!

Another buddy of mine has been running his 328d and he has seen a few names from the m57 tuning ( that we know of here) that were horribly done. He said JR was a good tune though.

If it wasn't so hard to get the maps for the edc17cp09, I'd love to experiment with my setup. For example, I don't like the smoke that shows up past 4k rpm. I don't care for max hp like with my tdi, I was able to make it almost smoke free and almost as fast.

What about upgrading the cam & springs? Wouldn't that get rid of smoke that we see past 4k because our cam is more emissions focused?

I know that's my next upgrade before hybrid turbos
