Resonator or Muffler Delete on a 330i?
So, the 330i has an exhaust system similar to the 335i in some respects. There is a valve that opens above 2k rpm (aka you can do a golf t mod on it) and I really love the sound, but want to make it louder. This car is a daily driver, and I would like to do a temporary exhaust mod until I can save up for the BMW Performance exhaust. I'm afraid a muffler delete may be too loud, and I'm not sure if deleting the resonator and not the muffler will be loud enough (or if I'll get drone). I have an appointment this Saturday to have the work done and want to make up my mind prior to that morning! Anyone with experience please help. The car is having the rear bumper painted this coming Tuesday so i want to get all of this done prior to that.

If you plan on getting an exhaust in the future then just leave it alone. But if you're going for sound then the muffler deletes your way to go. It really isn't as loud as you think it will be. A lot of sound gets lost in the manifold and cats to be honest

I did the muffler delete and it sounds good but the drone on the highway at 65-70 is difficult to deal with. Im going back to stock for the time being.

Don't believe all those videos that's supposed to show a muffler delete is "amazing". All of them are reving without load on the engine. Once you are in gear and at a constant speed around 2500-3k (same situation described by nthanos330i above) you will experience drone. That's what will drive you nuts, not the parking lot revs.

I did a resonator delete first with the muffler on and the sound barely even changed. Then I did the muffler delete and it was nice and loud but still not my taste, so I added a magnaflow muffler and now it sounds niiiiiice! If you are on Instagram check out my page. I posted a video of the exhaust a couple of days ago

So because you don't like the sound, that makes me wrong. Well im sorry you're bothered by me liking the sound of an inline 6 but you're amongst the minority in the world who doesn't like inline 6's. Supra, R34, e46 M3 to name a few which are known for their incredible sounds.
