Possibly with dynamic lines, but not for 3x the price.
If you want dynamic lines, consider the $200-300 aliexpress carplay adapters. They hijack the video to screen feed and display their own image on your factory screen. They switch to backup camera view instantly and don't need to wait for the CIC to boot. No $50 emulator is needed. And you get all the carplay/android auto features.

Otherwise, look for the Autofocus vendor on ebay. I have used them several times now. And the cable is pretty long for the E90. I think the camera will even work in an E70 so the cable should be long enough.

But the sound is probably via AUX - so bad, and I have individual sound system Do you maybe have some links for Aliexpress adapters that you think are good? Thank you very much for your help

Guys need some advice. I bought the emulator and harness (Autofocustech) and plugged all into the car. Done coding. When in reverse, i do see the new i drive screen where it has new options (reverse cam, brightness, etc) but no feed from the camera. I powered the camera from the back of HU (New Harness), seller says coding all good, maybe i need to get a different source for power.

So my question is, if i had already given a power connection from the HU via the harness, is it safe to power the (+ Red cable) coming out from the micro AV connection into Battery + terminal / Reverse Light (+) ?

It is just so troublesome to open up the trims and HU just to disconnect the current power connection to the camera, if it has power in the first place.

The link below is a Kremersino carplay system that streams the music over the combox BT which sounds much better than aux. All the carplay system come with aux to support people who don't have combox (which is most E series). Most of the complaints now are about the BT mic being slow for Siri or text message responses which I don't care about.

Because this system is on the bus, it knows to switch to reverse without needing an emulator. There are adjustable settings that allow you to use the factory backup setup if that is what you prefer. It then has dynamic parking lines for the backup camera, switches to backup camera instantly rather than waiting for the CIC to boot and lays a small PDC graphic over the backup camera image to allow full-screen backup camera without the useless menu area on the left.

Check this post along with the associated thread for lots of info on Kremersino. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showpo...postcount=1021

Adjust your wert in the coding to try out the other 2 video input options. If that does not work, test your camera output with a monitor that supports a rca input. And test CIC input with a dash camera output or something like that.

I tried wert both 21 and 23, didnt work. Yea testing the rca output from camera is next step, but gotta dismantle eveything because the male connector is behind the hu. Should have tried it before i fix everything up. But is it safe to connect both power from the HU AND from battery/ reverse light at the same time? Just because i want to attemp this dont want to blow the HU

There is no need to hook up both red reverse wires on the camera wiring. If you have an emulator that has the white camera power wire, hook up the front red wire. If not, use a relay to power the rear red wire from the reverse lights. Don't use the reverse light power without a relay as it is only 11 volts and the camera won't turn on. Unless you have coded the reverse lights to be full power.

I think i have mentioned in my earlier post. I have the white wire coming from the emulato, wired it and it didnt work. So next step is trying a alternate power with the red cable coming out from the micro av connector in the boot. So again, my question is, if the white cable fron the emulator is already connected, it is safe to connect the red cable to battery + termjnal or relay /reverse light just to test things out if the camera is getting power?

So which pin's did you tap in your rca video cable into? unless you got the plug n play harness version?

Camera has a good ground? I'd be testing if your getting power out of the white wire/camera power while in reverse.

I used a plug n play harness, with input 18,28 EU Spec. I did properly ground it behind the rear seat side trim.

I just tried powering it straight from battery terminal and still cant see any feed. Fortunately i didnt break anything

To test camera and feed cable connection you don't even need car battery. Most cheap 12v camera will start working when you plug a full 9v battery to them. If the battery is down to 6v, then they won't work.

Hi there!
I did the installation(like it is described in the pdf file in several posts before) and did the coding from the first post of $3AG to the VO also:

MACRO_PDC - aktiv
MACRO_REARVIEW - aktiv
RVC_CIC - wert_21
MACRO_L6_PARKMENU - aktiv
PDC_DIRECTION - vertical

I use pins 18 and 28 because there is option wert_21. The camera is powered from the white cable from the emulator.

But the camera doesn't come up, the display shows the rear camera menu and the pdc sensor detection on the right side and the main window is in gray color. The car is f11 2012 with HU_CHAMP module. The emulator is this:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3291...27424c4dxkkEOw

I appreciate any helps!

Does the system in this link work with non-combox E90 via AUX?
I have the weird 07/2009 build E91 that cannot even get updated maps without full car software update. Do I need to update to Combox to take advantage of the full features of the Kremer sino units?

I came here mainly because I want a reverse camera (still need to research which one) with dynamic parking lines and then stumbled on the Kremersino thread above. I have Android and wife has iOS, so that would nice to use Google Maps etc.
Is the sound on those bad for everything even calls?
I've had my share of Chinese headunits and they always lack even acceptable audio quality. I am not an audiophile, but just want good phone call quality, good radio reception/quality and only occasional music.

Back on topic, besides reverse camera, can one also connect front camera to these units for parking? Any slick ideas on activating those?

Thank you!

The carplay boxes always come with an aux cable for CIC that do not have combox. Only 2011 came with combox from the factory and the kits support CIC from 2009 and up. The newer versions supposedly have fixed the aux quality issue. The older one I have has bad aux audio. It makes the Logic 7 sould like a base system and removes most bass.

I am unsure if your cic firmware is too old for a combox retrofit so do some research. If you want a firmware update, search facebook marketplace and craigslist for coders with an ICOM.

Front camera is not easily available the factory way. But it can be easily added with the carplay system as it has an input for it.

I'll take a look at various systems. My head is spinning already between Andream, Kremersino, etc.
And now I made a mistake of going down the 360-camera rabbit hole!
Gotta return to my original purpose of giving my wife the backup camera she wants in our E91.

Just got my back up camera delivered. Is there a way I can test it on my TV before putting it in the car?

Thanks

Any monitor with a single RCA (composite) in will work as a test monitor. Also, I have used my dashcam output to test the CIC inputs.

In terms of power, will a 9volt battery suffice for a quick test?

The autofocustech camera wants 12 volts. Mine would not work with 11.

Anyone have an emulator die on them? My camera was faulty and I'm just getting around to swapping it with a new one. Tested the new camera it works fine plugged into the TV via RCA, plugged into the existing harness/emulator and nada, just a black screen when going into reverse. Double checked coding/VO and nothing has changed (Not like it would but it's easy enough to check)

Got a replacement camera and reverse screen is still black.

Checked coding and everything looks good. No dice on 21/23.

Camera is powered by reverse lights. Camera works when hooked up to a TV, but I can hear interference on the car stereo.

Would a relay be a potential fix? Anything other tips?

Reverse lights are 11 volts and would not power my camera. To troubleshoot, hook the red wire to the battery + as a test. And double check the ground. Some monitors used for testing will ground the camera via the video plug and allow the camera to work. CIC does not ground via the video input shield.

Also, testing the CIC input can be done with a dashcam or gopro. Anything you can do to eliminate variables makes this less frustrating.
