330d e90 new owner question
Hello everyone. I buy a 330d e90 at a very low price from a friend. I have some questions. When i accelerate at 2000 rotation i hear a little turbo whistle. All is fine with the car i think it s normal but i want to get some feedback from some owner of 330d.
I see a little oil leak at the exit of the turbo on the big pipe who goes down with a red think at the end. The little leak is at the beginning of the pipe just after the turbo. My friend tell me that he had to adjust the level of the oil at 5000 miles. I think its normal for an old car with high mileage ? I see that the car smell a little diesel and the exhaust is very black. It is a sign that the car is dpf off ? Thanks you all guys. |

I'm not 100% sure from your description but the pipe might be the pipe that goes into the intercooler from the turbo?
This is a common leak point as that pipe is a terrible design... and the o-ring stops being very effective after some years. might be worth trying to get a new o-ring, part number 13718596850 for N57, not sure if same on M57. Also, not much to worry about as long as the turbo isn't leaking too much oil. it always looks like it's a lot as it's under pressure so it comes out as a mist of oil. use realoem.com to find the correct part numbers for your car spec Last edited by jacbo; 08-25-2022 at 04:20 AM.. Thanks you for you response. Sorry for my english.
I talk with my mecanic and y said that nothing to worry. Hé also said that the turbo is à little noisy but nothing terrible with the High mileage. I was thinking the dpf is off but Hé see that the dpf is here. Maybe is empty inside... |

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on 'turbo whistle' to determine if the car is running properly. It's definitely normal, especially with an aftermarket intake.
