That's a lot of unnecessary questions.

It cost me $80 to get them removed, 2ft of pipe included. This was in Everett - took about 1.5hr. It's somewhat louder, but it's more of a deeper tone. The engine light doesn't come on because these are the secondary cats only, they are not monitored. It doesn't smell any different. I haven't tested emissions, but i'm sure it could still pass.

These questions are ABSOLUTELY necessary bro!
I don't want the engine light coming on all the time!
I don't want my ride to be smelly, or too loud.
I didn't know you were talking about the secondary cats. Things seem to be ok with those. The problems appear when you delete the primary cats. That's what i am looking to do.
I'm trying to put a performance exhaust system for under $1K.

I didn't take out my primary cats... but i assure you, your car WILL smell (at least your tail pipe will), you WON'T pass emissions, you WILL have a check engine light (unless you have an O2 simulator), and it WILL be very loud.

Keep in mind, if your exhaust is too loud, it'll get picked up easy by the 5-0 and you'll get a fine (as per the 'pulled over' thread in this forum)...

Emissions are not a big thing out here in WA though... so you can probably get away with not having them for a while...

I had mine removed and I wish I wouldn't have... I have an e92 and VRSF catless DPs. Turbos smoked so bad after removing the secondary cats I was embarrassed to drive my car. Unfortunately I had it down with I was in SoCal and now no one will touch my exhaust to put them back in. One shop said they would, but wanted $300 to do so.
