I had started a thread asking for The dirtiest E9x (pictures please) but people thought it was a fetish or something. I was just curious is all. Here is a picture taken with a camera I am testing. This one doesn't have the bug remover feature I always use on my main camera. Really this picture was taken 6/26 with a test camera at work, the day after I got home. I was leaving work and saw the most bugs I have ever had on my 335i. When I reached Mt. Rainier I stopped for 15 minutes to use my duster. Then I used Meguiar's Quick Detailer to take the bugs off the nose and mirrors. Wherever I stopped along the way I cleaned the bugs off the windshield with some Armor All glass cleaner I had around. I didn't clean it any more at all for the Leavenworth Drive. I should have washed it because the rain on the way down the West side of Mt. Rainier made it a bit of a mess. But I didn't have time to do a full wash job before the Leavenworth drive. I wished I had, because I had one of the dirtiest cars there. It was a bit embarrassing. Sunday, I didn't wash it either because of all the rain. Maybe Montego Blue still does O.K. in overcast and rainy weather despite the grime and road film you can see when looking close. Monday, on the way home, I went Highway 18 to I-90. Then I-82 to I-84. At Cle Elum I stopped for gas and a pressure wash. I should have gotten the little bucket and Meguiars car wash out of the trunk and used it because the car was filthy. I noticed that at this car wash, they had a faucett you could use for water to wash. In hindsight, it would have been best to make use of that between first pressure wash and finally the rinse. Instead, I didn't even dry off the car, figuring it would be good enough to dry it off at 65 mph. I didn't get much past Cle Elum when I saw the best mountain laindscape in the rear view mirror. So I had to take an exit and find a place for a photoshoot. It was pretty easy to find in just a few miles of backtracking on roads near the freeway. I found a great spot. But the 65 mph air dry look terrible. And the wheels looked even worse. I took out my Meguiar's Quick Detailer and went to work. This time, it took much longer than 15 minutes. It was probably closer to an hour doing the body and rims. The first picture in this thread came from that location. I spent certainly more than an hour taking pictures there. I will pick out the best one soon and post them. I also shot a roll-and-a-half of slide film that still needs to be processed. While I was there I thought it was the best view I had seen on the entire trip. More photos coming up... I am posting in more-or-less chronological order. The best are yet to come. Thanks! |

The Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The second bridge (the one on the left) is almost done.

The Tacoma Narrows bridge from the other side at Titlow.
McNeil Island Penitentiary has it's own ferry service from Steilacoom. It was raining cats and dogs. |

Heading out I-90 to go home, I stopped at Lake Easton State Park. It looks like a nice campground, especially for boaters. It was very quiet. Probably due to the weather.

Leaving Cle Elum, I saw this in my rear-view mirror.
I had to find a viewpoint to take some pictures, so took the exit at Elk Heights Road off I-90. Go NE on Elk Heights Road to cross over I-90. Take a left onto Thorp Prairie Road. Stay on Thorp Prairie Rd heading NW. It stays parallel to I-90. Logan Flats is just before Thorp Prairie Road crosses I-90 and becomes Upper Peoh Point Road. From looking at a map, these must be the Wenatchee Mountains. Click on the picture to see the full-size image. |

My 335i Sedan around Mt. Rainer
I figured I'd throw a picture of my 335i @ Mt. Rainer up here as well. I was on my way down from Sunrise when I took this photo.
The drive up and back down is great, as long as no one gets infront of you
