My God what the fuck?
I need to check my intake pipe as well asap after seeing this! I don't think more dyno would be a good idea? I'd pull the engine and have a thorough check on the cylinder and valves. This sucks, hope it turns out fine. |

Once I get word from ESS, I'll see what we should go about doing..

Should get him involved, this is unacceptable and definitely in no fault of yours.
The 280whp you are hitting wasn't bad. I got 295whp but the place where I live all petrol is 98 Ron as standard. What is your base line anyway? |

For sure want to be compensated for the cleanup charge. God forbid its worse than the initial speculation, I hope thats taken care of as well. I sadly didn't get a baseline... I was hoping they'd do a baseline (which I'm almost certain we discussed prior) but to save some time for Bob, they had the kit on the car the day my appointment started, and thats fine.. Its a great number for the motor, but I know I'm gonna add the necessary tidbits after shes out of the woods to crank up the boost. Baseline should've been 230 240whp w/ MILVs. (ironically enough, the power reading from the dyno tune with them last time was low since my small disa wasn't engaging entirely and of course, that impacted my numbers. Issues every time she hops on the dyno lol. I even had an unsettling feeling for a brief moment about things going south).

when you turbo, supercharge, nitrous or change any dynamics of n/a motor there is a certain degree of R&D that goes into it to make it reliable and that cost the manufacture alot of $$ and time. in this case, his $$ and time. god know how much $$ i spent behind my own R&D on my own projects. I try not to think about it. only to never give up and see it through the end. |

Damn. I'm sorry to hear about all of this junk. Next time I get pissed at something trivial today or this week I'll have to think of my homie Noir and what he must be feeling lol!
I really hope that nothing major happened because it looks like the metal is at least soft, luckily. But obviously it will be best to clean it all out, regardless, which obviously is a b*tch. I'm thinking the intake manifold will also have to be cleaned due to the DISAs?

But I also think he should be compensated for the failure, and hopefully there is no long term damage... |

just crazy that mine seem to be during the fun stuff like the *ahem* (brake vacuum) *ahem* The job to pull the manifold has been done... they cleaned out the manifold and the runners AFAIK. Tried calling Randall earlier to get some more insight on routes to take and such.

AJ: The engine is fine. Guaranteed. Good news: He is covering the removal of the manifold and the cleanup. Thank God.

AJ: "The honeycomb is standard issue MAF straightener used in most aftemarket SC kits (US made), it is required if you ever plan to run in MAF active mode for emissions. "

Regardless... it’s likely ESS is using parts from their supplier as is. That screen could just be included by default on a part of the kit used in multiple applications/platforms from ESS parts supplier. |

Is that what he said? Which means I can safely remove the thing if I don't ever intended to run MAF? Good news.

When a MAF sensor is located in a tight bend, like the ESS, or in a blow thru turbo system, there is turbulence along and at the MAP and it gives a false reading and cause a rich or lean condition.
Using a MAF 'straightener' has been used for a long time with the Mustang guys. There are many different attempts and styles. I think that ESS chased and went this route early on when they were having tuning issues with the kit. Obviously going MAF-less is the best solution. |
