Indipendant warranty option?
I am concidering buying non BMW warranty for my car. I bought it used with 60,000 km on it.There are a number of companies that offer this service. I will probably go with the company my local dealer recomends so any cliams made are hopfully pain free. Looks like for a couple thousand dollars I can get powertrain warranty (forget for how long).
Just wanted to ask members here of any experience with these companies? |

One thing you have to note that these warranty companies require you to do maintenance regularly and you will have to send them the invoice of your service. My warranty requires me to service every 6k kms or 4 months. If you do not do this, there is a possibility it may void your warranty.

If you are out of factory warranty AND just looking for power train protection you can get that from any BMW dealer. Shop around as price is negotiable.

try Route 66.
Usually they don't pay the taxes, shop fees, and fluids during the replacement. You must file a claim before you go into the independent or dealership to have them diagnose the car. Couple of Examples: Just this past week I had my Water pump/Thermostat replaced at a BMW specialized indy shop. Cost was $1050. I paid $80. Couple months ago My tranny and headgasket was leaking. That was a $2-3k job from dealership. I paid $550. BMW labor is more per hour. Route 66 goes by some other standard per hour rate, so if it goes over that you pay the difference, thus taking it to an indy shop next time around. Since I got the warranty transferred to me when I bought the car, I believe it was $1600, not sure though. |
