Graduate diploma in law

Hi,
has anyone done a GDL or completed a law conversion course?

Can you tell me what you did after completing the course? Did you have to work as a paralegal and how soon can you begin practicing as a solicitor?

Any advice for someone taking this route?

Ah so after the GDL, Legal Practice Course (LPC) is required.

2yrs + 2yrs = 4yrs to qualify. That's a bit of a slog.

There are a few lawyers in my family, they work stupid hours for promise of partner, never materialises, pay not great relative to effort and hours and they never see their kids.

Funny I spoke to my brother who's friend has been working as a barrister and he said the same thing. Often works 6am to 8pm. Hardest working guy he knows. No life outside of the office and has been doing it for years. Just starting to make the big bucks but little time to enjoy it.

I would start my business if I had an idea for something to do.
