Discover plastic clip inside..

Guys, if you look inside your trunk next to the light, what is this plastic clip for? Is that for the optional Luggage Compartment Drawer? Thanks!

That is supposed to hold up the door for the trunk compartment.
It does not work on my car, how about yours?

I already try that, and I did want to push to far back. Dont want to break it.

Do you think it installed backward ? I did not try to remove and flip it around.

I'm with you on this one - The clip seems wrong to me. I think the hinge should be on the other side.

It is indeed to hold the floor compartment door up. Works fine on mine. You need to push it firmly past the resistance. I think it's spring steel, not plastic. Either way it shouldn't break.

Me 2 but you have to force it a little to get past the plastic dew-hickie and then pull hard to get it down. Probrably cuz it's new plastic...

True, but if not it probably wouldn't hold. Then we'd all bitch about that.

Just push the door hard enough to pass the plastic piece. It shouldn't break.

you shouldnt have to put any grease or "lubricants" on the thing, it should slide in place pretty easily, all you have to do is push slightly harder to get it into the right spot. (sh*t, that came out wrong )

Good question.

I've been hanging groceries from it.

My question is, why would we need to have the lid held up? This implies you need both hands to take something out and there isn't enough room down there for anything that requires both hands to move!

Well, I just tried it out and, while I am always happy to find a new feature of my car, I gotta say this one is my least favorite. I hope it comes in handy during the lifetime of my car.

Soooooooooory to say that but you guys are wrong.....

this plastic thing is done only for grocery bags ...it s a nice feature!! it holds the bag up and nothing is rolling in the trunk while you are driving.

This is an example of how the BMW interior designers got things right: a dual purpose clip that is intuitive, so intuitive that there was no mention in the manual.

I do that, but it's kinda a pain to put them up there. Also, I don't think they're wrong. We just found an unintended function of it. We probably voided our warranty putting groceries on it!

Also, there is an official grocery bag accessory.
