Shaved center console
I've never much liked the black shifter boot surround. I like how the M3 console is a single consistent piece.
Has anyone molded the black trim to the main piece? I plan on skinning the console in carbon so it should be one consistent piece in the end. I'm more concerned that I may have issues removing the main console trim later. I feel in the clear because of the m3 console, and I don't remember having to deal with it, other than disconnecting the gear indicator wires. Thoughts? |

Manual shift boot looks 10x better than stock plate. I did this and is probably in the top 3 favorite of “mods” I’ve done.

As promised, I've started the project.
I got the rough fill done and sanded out. Now I have to fill some thickness on the on the back for part of my plans, plus smooth out some the transitions. I pigmented the layers different so I could see differences as I sanded |

Primer going on, basically going to prep it for paint, then wrap it.

So there isn't any glass, it's not a high stress area, and it's going to be wrapped so it shouldn't matter. If it fails bad enough to see through the wrap I'll overlay a thin glass cloth over the whole thing.

Are you planning on putting your start/stop back in your newly made center trim piece? Seems like you'd have more room to position it now that you arent restricted by that shifter plate

I am. Additionally I'm going to recess it similar to the stock form. As much as I liked my relocation of the start button, I didn't like how much it stuck up. Plus it will be more evenly spaced since it doesn't have to be smooshed to fit on the on the shift plate.

It'll crack and eventually show through the wrap. Doesn't need to be a high stress area, just expansion/contraction from hot/cold will cause it to crack.

I'm content, with the button. I got it all to fit as well. Gotta prime it and then wrap it. Going to wrap all the interior pieces for Cars and Coffee next month.

So I finally had time to wrap it, started with this one. I figured that if I mess up, I'll do it with the big piece, then if I need more it will be smaller pieces. Hopefully I can get a few more pieces done tomorrow.
So I can't find the lid for the ash tray, and it's missing 2 screws. Which I don't understand since I put all the screws back in the holes as to not loose them. Anyhoo... |
