Rear turn signal?
I have searched and I have not found anything that fits my problem.
I have a 2009 335i Xdrive sedan. The passenger rear turn signal sometimes doesn't work and I get a light bulb icon displayed on the dashboard. But it doesn't last. It may happen again the next time I use the right turn signal, or it may not. It's entirely unpredictable. When it isn't working, it does not appear to have any effect on the brake light of taillight. I mean, I get out and look when it says the turn signal isn't working and sure enough no lights of the passenger side rear. But, if I turn the turn signal off, the tail light works as normal and so does the brake light. Is there some kind of control module for turn signals? Sorry for my ignorance, but I have not had the car for long and I don't use it very much. It gets driven about 150 miles a month. |

Start with just replacing the bulb. They're way cheap. Bulbs usually have a real predictable failure pattern, but there are always exceptions.
If it keeps doing that, move onto the next diagnostic. You can turn on turn signal and probe the turn signal wire with a multimeter. You should expect to see a regular high-low-high voltage pattern. |

Here's an update. There are no light bulbs, it's an LED board... and it has a short. I took it to the dealer this morning and the whole unit needs to be replaced. I'm not surprised.... kind of expected it.
