I live in Socal and everything is over priced here. I bought mine a couple years ago for 17.5 with 48,000 miles and it's in new condition. I know of 2 local Cali 335d M Sports for sale and the cheapest one is 18,000 the other is 22,000. If I found another one in good condition for under 14,000 I'd buy it in a heartbeat. If you have a 335d M Sport why would you consider selling it for under 17,000? There are only approx. 650 with clear title on the road in America and with all the color combo's each one of those is like a 1 in 10 car unless you got an Alpine White....There was like 350 of those made. This car can become a collector car so easily.....Just start treating it like it's special and others will start to act the same....Next thing you know in a couple years when there is only like 200 with clear titles on the road and you have a 1 of 1 or 1 of 2 the car will be worth $30,000 or more.

lol you might as well invest in fool's gold. Same body as a 335i which has tens of thousands on the road. I love my D, but there's no way I'm expecting the value to go up 200%. It's only a popular mod car now because it can be had for 10-15k.

I'm sure there were 10 of thousands of 55 Chevy's on the road in 1963. Another 5-10 years and lets have this conversation again. A 335d isn't a 335i in terms of rarity.

To your point, escalating value isn't just about rarity but also increasing appeal. I have a 67 Barracuda that in mint condition might bring 18 to 20 grand. Not near the demand for it even though only about 700 67 Barracuda with 383 engine like mine was built. Compare this to a 1970 Challenger that might have cost $1500 more sticker price (say $3000 vs $4500) and those go for >$40 grand. If it came with a Hemi and VIN in on the block, bam your up to $80 grand.

Point is if the car will be sought after when our cars are 15 to 20 yrs old. Diesel politically starting to get a bad name for itself so likely this won't be the case. Then again, we would have all laughed our ass off if someone had said in 2014 DT was going to be pres in 2016. Hard to predict the future based on past data. Out

I think there might be some potential for the 335D to become a collectors car, in the future. I agree its popular at the moment with the buy here pay here crowed who has just enough money to buy it then mod it to crap, and not be able to fix it. A lot of 335d's will disappear in the next few years becasue of bad mods and questionable drivers, and it will become rarer like E46 M3's. Sorry modding ruins a cars collection value (generally).

Earlier BMW diesels in the US I will note have like the 524td have no collection value. Also sitting on this car until 2031 is a long time, to store. The last 524td which only 1500 were sold in the us sold for $6K and its a 1985 https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-bmw-524td-2/

Its only going to be the pristine low milage unmodded examples that may when they are 20-25 years old go up in value. But this isn't a dream car for most people, the population who would buy it would be small. Also there are a ton of these in the rest of the world, so the supply is only limited in the us.

I have an X5M E70 as well and I'd say it has the same potential to be collectable as it was the 1st of a breed.

Its cars that people (lots of people) dream of owning that go up in value like the older M5's and M3's. Back when they were more ultimate driving machine than ultimate cruising machine.
