Stainless steel exhaust polish

I've recently picked up an E90 335i that is very low km and well maintained but the exhaust tips were neglected. I polished them using Autosol Metal Polish which is just what I had around and got some good results.

I still have some remaining etching from the carbon buildup.
Is there another metal polish anyone can recommend to get a next to perfect result or is the etching permanent?

If you have not tried this before you can get soft steel wool and some degreaser and try scrubbing off the caked carbon with allot of elbow grease.

after my post I actually remembered that trick but didn't work. the lower portion big the tip is very tough and etched. perhaps sanding it down with fine grade would work followed up by polish.
