Hi all!! When I bought my 2013 E92 335is, after a few days I noticed that a few things didn't work. At first I assumed it was a bad fuse, but upon further inspection, I found that the car had been broken into (educated guess/circumstantial evidence) as I found the wiring harness underneath the overhead console severed. This was a problem because said harness feeds the Premium Pkg Mirror (compass, auto dimming & homeliness), the rain & headlight sensors, the rear overhead console and the Alarm System. So obviously none of those items work. The problem was that the plugs to all of those items had been pulled so they were not there if I wanted to reconnect them.
This turned into a real mess because apparently, they are part of the "full body harness" that runs the entire length of the headliner/roof so I couldn't just order a replacement harness. A couple of weeks ago, I found a part-out 2010 LCI E92 335i with all the same options as mine (with the exception of the alarm system) and he managed to get me the entire front section of the harness. Here is my problem: I have found someone i trust quite a bit to reconnect everything, but seeing as how they are not the same year, I don't know if the wiring colors will match so I'm looking for someone who knows if it will or will not match, or someone who can point me to the wiring diagrams for these two cars so we can get this all wired back up. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!

Yeah, you have to click and google around a bit and get familiar with BMW terminology.
For example FUB = Roof Function Center You can start here for major systems https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...nal-info/body/ Pinout (PIB) for your roof console https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...is-cou/ZCiGmx9 |

Had my guy do what he could today. I'd hoped that even though the donor car didn't have an alarm system, the plug would be there (pre-wiring). So my guy gets into it and calls me to tell me that my car has two plugs/options that the donor harness doesn't have. This is not surprising (alarm system) but he connects everything else. So now my compass, Homelink, and rain & headlight sensor work as they should. I'll find out tonight if the auto dimmer works (I'm thinking it should), but the alarm and rear overhead light console still don't work. I'm thinking the rear console is just a missed wire somewhere, but I really don't know, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. As for the alarm system, I think I will need to find another donor harness for that, but.... my guy said that if he knew the pin locations, he could probably hardwire the "other two" plugs/options so if anyone knows where I can find the pin layout, that would be greatly appreciated. Canuck335 put up a pin out already, but I'm wondering if this is the one I need. I saw the pins for the motion sensors, but didn't see any labels for the clown nose/mirror indicator.

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ghting/uNXcLCN Check connectors X14289 (front console) and X10293 (rear console). The Alarm system ("DWA") is described here https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e.../alarm-system/ The instructions for the alarm system retrofit may help your guy understand how it's wired into the car and what do to with those extra connectors. https://www.ecstuning.com/resources/INS349.pdf https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-d...m-install.html |

Final Update?
So…. They went back in and now I have the rear console lights and my alarm system (mostly). They told me that the module by the rear upper console was the problem (not sure if it was bad or just disconnected), so once they reconnected all of that, now the car is ALMOST to where it should be. The one thing left that we are tracking down is the Alarm Indicator Light under the rear view mirror. It doesn't seem to be working so we're trying to figure out if there is a dedicated plug for that (which means I don't have it as the donor car didn't have an Alarm System) or if the bulb is bad (can you even CHANGE the indicator bulb??).
I do want to thank Canuck335 for all of your help. Your knowledge helped immensely and I hope that one day I can return the favor. I also want to thank Mando & Eric at Atlas Custom in Santa Maria for always doing top notch work!

I'm not that familiar with the alarm. I think the alarm blink might be a codable option or in the iDrive menu. The light itself is a LED so I doubt it's burned out.

So... I asked my Indy once he finished with my repairs and he said he’s never actually seen a BMW with an alarm system have a problem with the LED under the mirror. He said it may possibly be a codeable item, but at least if something is wrong it should be throwing a code.
Once I got home, the first thing I did was look through the coding options and while it had sound options, lights flashing and a few others, there was nothing in regards to the LED. So I looked at the error codes, and sure enough, there was an error code: 9CF9: DWA-LED The problem is that I don’t know what that means. I spent about an hour Googling it and couldn’t really find anything. Does anyone know of a site or book that could tell me what this means?

You can look up fault codes here
http://bmwfault.codes/ But of course it doesn't tell you much. I'd say check the wiring to the LED first. Then replace the LED if the wiring checks out. Also maybe ask your question in the Coding forum - lots of expertise there. |
