Grazy_87 do you have any contact iNfo? Looking to get in touch about sourcing kit parts and people for remote tuning/coding. Awesome build, my jaw is on the floor still! Cheers

*Further development of the car to come:
Devils own meth installation
Sourcing a larger alloy radiator (which will actually fit!)
Adjustments to the mapping to broaden the power band.
Did you find a radiator that would fit ?

Great thread. About to do the same thing in the USA here. Just looking for a wagon but have a donor 335d and (hopefully) a transmission from a 330d.

Some questions if you don't mind:

1) I have two choices of transmissions from the seller. One has a female input shaft and one has a male. All my other manual swap cars have used a male input shaft. He said the choices are either code HGU or code HGD. Which is correct?

2) Is there a source for the driveshaft and diff for USA owners or should I find an import/export source?

3) Do you have a list of wiring changes required for the manual swap?

4) Can you still help source parts for those of us in the US?

You need the box from a 330d pre stop/start, as you look at the bell housing the starter mount should be to the right at about 1 o'clock, wiring you can find on internet with pics, 4 wires from the clutch switch and 1 ground from the reverse light switch and 1 to pin 19 on frm unit from the other terminal on the reverse switch... also a 330d or 325d Manual diff and prop shaft, to get the gearing right. any one tells you different is full of shit. I'v done 3 conversions every thing works as though it left BMW as a manual.

Perfect, where are wiring pics? Seems similar to the S62 and S54 cars we did (auto to manual).

On the transmission I have the choices shown here:

Lastly, who can help me import the prop shaft a nd manual diff? Or is there a US equivalent I can have re-geared into LSD to fit and bolt up?

The second box with the female spigot is the one you need, check the needle roller bearing in the end where the spigot on the DMF fits. The diff is a 2.35/1 . Wiring I have written down i'll dig it out, blue with red tracer goes to pin 50 on dde, there are 2 pin 50's, the one with the curly wire is an injector, you need the vacant one in the other plug. brown is ground the other 2 go the frm unit, pin 3 and pin 40. but check the wiring on your car UK and US cars may be different.
Prop wise just use a 330d if you use a 330 or 325d diff, if you use your own diff you only need the front half. you can pull the prop to meet the box, but the contact area on the spline is reduced, so if you launch it, it could snap and wreck the floor pan of the car.
If you go over 350 bhp the standard 330d clutch wont cope. 1 more tip use a new clutch switch.
.

Excellent, thank you. I'm curious why the female version is the one to use for the transmission - all other manual cars I've seen from BMW have the male one. I guess the output from the flywheel on the diesel is different somehow? I just want to be doubly sure before I purchase something.

Thank you also for the wiring changes. If you can tell me the signal names, that would make double checking the US/Euro differences easier. If not I completely understand.

Know anyone who can do exporting of the diff and propshaft? And maybe transmission at this point? And a source for stronger clutch?

You don't need to make doubly sure the info Iv given you is spot on!! trust me. one more thing, don't go SMF with paddle clutch, if you are going to use this as a road car. They are fucking horrendous.

Ok, I had thought you said that euro cars may have different wiring so if I knew the signal names I could check. Or wire colors I guess might be the same.

Ha! LOL

Would this be a good clutch to get for the upgraded power?

It will no doubt be up to the job, but the drive plate isn't sprung, so the operation will be harsh. It all depends what you are using the car for...

Street mostly, so want something that drives nicely with little or no noise or harshness. Suggest an alternative perhaps that is available in the USA?

What kind of power are you planning on? up to 340/350 a standard clutch would cope, if you aren't to brutal with it!! anything more you are going to need that Sachs clutch...

You're going to have to go single mass and race clutch, the geibo's on the prop won't handle that kind of power.
