only reason it bolted on is because the op used the performance muffler with the resonator that comes with clamps. if you bought the afe midpipes they'll need to be welded on to your resonator pipe, then reverse to go back to stock.

BTW this is where I ordered mine came to 230 and change and can be ordered using amazon. Now just looking for a good axle back muffler to complete this any ideas? Picture shows complete setup but should just be the AFE race pipes. I assume since it has the same Item number.

Should've done baseline dyno then added the midpipe. I already did my baseline dyno.

It should only be $80 for 3 runs, a dyno once a month is pretty much what I'll do.

I don't know exactly what I'm talking about, but if I understand correctly, if you purchase these cat delete pipes, and the BMW PE, than the whole thing should be a bolt in affair, no cutting or welding needed?

Secondary cat delete pipes + PE (muffler and Y pipe)

Wouldn't you be able to remove the entire stock exhaust in one piece?

I misread - Depends on the car, some N51 cars may require welding to fit to the pipe I believe.

I emailed AFE performance about 3-4 days ago asking if they would sponsor me or give a discount to complete and review on their AFE header combo with the race pipe and possibly intake as well but i never heard back from them? I was crossing my fingers that they would be willing to get their product out differently with a real life hands on review from a enthusiast. that would have been a fun review to do!!!!!

I'm purchasing these race pipes this week and hopefully get them installed by next week. I have stock headers and a tig-welded custom quad exhaust built by R1 Motorsports, so hopefully this will give me a better flow and sound.

I just picked up the PE and have yet to install it. If I paired it with these secondary cat delete pipes, then I could keep my stock exhaust intact. I would like the know if it is much louder than just the PE, or is the change less noticeable. Also, does it backfire more, and would it possibly decrease performance without a tune? Thoughts.

Also, I forgot to ask. Were you not able to use all of the factory brackets with the new exhaust. Doesn't the factory exhaust have a support bracket just behind where it bolts to the factory header/cat?

Its not that much louder, but it allows you to hear the PE more. It does backfire a bit more yes, it will not decrease performance though. You do not need a tune and you will get more power in the mid to high end RPM range.

secondary is a lot easier to remove then header, you could DIY or just pay to swap back for very little money. it does not require cutting or welding.

Just got mine, thanks OP

cut the clamps out, clamp the pipes. when I need an inspection clamp cats back on, pretty good idea
