[N57]

Hello,
I have a 2011 325D with the n57 block with 94,000 miles on it. I've made couple of threads before about the car but there's a noise (which sounds almost identical to a noisy diff) at the front of the engine. This noise becomes apparent when after the engine is warm and louder after a motorway run. A link to a video highlighting this "metallic noise" is provided.
The noise can be heard by listening next to the drivers side wheel. Could anyone shed any light on it?

Could it be any of the belts at the front or a pulley?

could be a pulley or even the flexi on exhaust near the dpf,,mine is shot and is awful when sitting in car travelling,,but cannot hear it a s mch from outside..e90 330d

are the pulleys easy to do?

depends how you are with spanners,,i done fiddle with that stuff anymore,,just throw it into indies,,but it aint a hard job,,but 2 hands are better than one with these jobs,,check pulleys with a mechanics stethescope first

Mines an M57 but still applies I rekon...I had a chattering noise which seemed to eminate from front of engine since 100k...changed DMF at 138k...noise gone

Mines the autobox so shouldn't have a DMF if i'm correct?
