A BMW tech told him what to do, I don't understand why he thinks there is anyone more qualified....

Drain the oil completely, refill, and then see what happens. Oh, and never put anything but the recommended fluids in your car....

i know i f*cked up. Telling me I'm stupid doesn't help me in anyway. I know made a horrible decision. At this point if someone could tell me what that code actually means I would really appreciate it. The guy who says he is a BMW tech said" Id bet that addative caused the vanos to jam - the vanos is very sensitive to oil weight. drain the oil and try again." So my next question is what is vanos?

The sooner you change the oil now the higher your chances are to avoid physical VANOS damage. I bet a damage caused by what you have done will not be warranted. So better change the oil asap instead of discussing on the forum .

OoOoOoOoOoooo BOOOY! looks like someone is screwing up the VANOS!

drain your oil, change your filter, go to autozone, get some cheap 5w30 SYNTHETIC(only use synthetic), add the cheap stuff and beat on your car, making the oil clean out all the GUNK that you have built up in your VANOS, after abour 30 minutes, change your oil again while its still HOT, and put in the BMW 5W30, again, change your filter and dont mess w/ that engine restore crap unless you have an old tractor or something.

At this point, I think you should stop the DIY and take it to BMW before anything really goes wrong
