need some help with wheel fitment!
hi I'm after some help/advice and I'm sure this is the right place!
i own a 2006 e91 m sport. i purchased some var alloys with tyres fitted. front fit fine but the rear I'm having rubbing issues. the wheels are 18inch 9.5j e22. the rear tyres are 255/40/18 and i know the are a size to big ideally. with the new wheels fitted and two people sitting in the boot the wheel are is basically sitting on the tyre wall. this cannot be right? I've put my old alloys back on and the car still seems to be sitting low. does the ride height look stock? I'm thinking the rear shocks could be gone causing the car to sit bit lower as more weight are on the springs. has anyone come across like and issue like this or had any experience running this wheel tyre combination. thanks Andrew Last edited by andrewafc; 06-06-2018 at 03:38 PM.. |

Shocks don't affect ride height, they simply dampen the rebound from the springs.
Not easy to tell the ride height from the pictures, mainly due to the angle and also because of the shadow on the tyre. Are 255 width tyres suitable for 9.5j wheels? That's the width I have on my 8.5j rears. I'm guessing your rear tyres would be quite stretched which might also explain why the tyre sits on the sidewall. |

If the tyre is touching the arch all you can do is add some camber, roll the arch or fit a smaller tyre. The offset isn't ridiculously low for that width, but it's probably just a tad much if it's an LCI.

9.5j et22 is more aggressive than normal tbf. Running the 255 on a 9.5j rim is fine though as I run that on my front. I'd certainly get your geo checked in the first instance and as dial in a touch more -ve camber to help (as well as roll the arches).
Height wise it's hard to tell but need better pics to be sure. From those angles does look lower than stock.

Et22 is very aggressive with a 9.5j and a 40 series sidewall. U can get the wheel to fit but you are gonna have to go down a profile on the tyres....ie 255 35 18.... or maybe even a slightly stretched 245 35 18.

I always use this website before committing to new wheels/tyres
https://www.willtheyfit.com/ OK, so a bit late for you, but put your wheel/tyre/offset details into the calculator and see what you think from there. |
