How much did you pay for the walnut blasting if you don't mind me asking ? I know there is lots of debates on terra clean but just wondering if it's a better idea just to go ahead and get it walnut blasted.

Plenty of posts on here with a couple of recommended specialists down south.

I used TWG for £280.

I agree with Notadiesel that for the DI naturally aspirated engines Walnut blasting is only really necessary if you need to cure a specific problem. Fitting an OCC and partially blanking the EGR system can also reduce the amount of cr*p getting into the inlet side...

I've got a 2008 E91 325 which ironically I bought from a dealer just outside of Edinburgh (I live in London).

Anyway here's what was done before I bought it.

08/2008/2k exchange HPFP
04/2009/10k new HPFP
04/2012/37k 1 injector (and 4 decoupling element - I guess they removed and tested 3 that were ok before finding a dud)
04/2012/37k 6 coils
04/2012/38k 2 injectors (and only 2 coupler)

It's now on 70k

Hi,
I bought a 2008 330i N53 about 3 months ago. Seems to be fine so far and has the aforementioned recall work done.

Have you any more information regarding the blanking of the EGR? Would this help with performance and mpg too?

And what is OCC?

Thanks

OCC is an oil catch can. I bought mine from the USA:

http://www.saikoumichi.com/

To partially blank the EGR, I simply introduced a restrictor in the EGR pipework similar to this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EGR-blanki...item25924f93e4

But you'll need to get one of the correct dimensions, and you must have a hole in it, otherwise the ECU gives you loads of errors...

Blanking had no effect on mpg or performance, other than it stopped the 'surging' I was getting on Motorways (revs creeping up when throttle pedal wasn't moving - a symptom of too much recirculating exhaust gas).

AFAIK the only "recall" was for coil packs. Not for injectors or fuel pump..

Im in process of purchasing 2011 BMW 3 series 330i e93 auto and ive been annoying heck out of BMW asking every thing i can think off.Got sent full history of car and spec and got sent a list of recalls these are
0012400300 replace ignition coil (delphi company)
0061390400 installing the positve battery terminal line repair cable
0061660400 checking and if necessary reworking plug connection for blower output stage
They are saying these are only recalls for this model i was worried about injectors too but might of been on early model but i dont know for certain.

I'd say that's about right. There were other recalls (HPFP and injectors) but I imagine a 2011 car woudl have been build with the corrected parts.

When did recall for hpfp and injectors occur. This is a Feb 2011 car im hopefully buying. One recall still outstanding is for blower output whatever that is. Does come with full history and got all info from dealers on it,even though not buying from a BMW dealer
Never had a beemer before always had diesels so want to come back from darkside now to a proper engine .
Im always worried when coming to buy a car and not from main dealer. But chance you take i suppose. Hopefully good solid car which will last me.
Is there anything i should be checking before handing pound notes out tomorrow?

Mine's a 2009 car and the recalls I mentioned were done before I bought it in 2012, so I think you're probably OK.
