Help updating Maps 2009 318 D M-Sport CIC I Drive

Hi guys completely new to this and a novice with I.T but I am after some advise on updating the maps on my 59 Reg E90 318D M-Sport Business Edition. From reading up other posts and forums I believe I have the professional widescreen CIC hard-drive system with 1 usb connection in the glove box.

Can anyone advise me the easiest cheapest way of getting the most recent maps installed, i am willing to give it a go myself if it is easy enough and links, instructions provided to me.

Thanks in advanced.

First step go in nav and press options then check in version exact name of the map you have to know for sure what nav version you have. Pro and business are different

It’s as easy as a 22gb download, placing the files on a usb stick and obtaining an FSC code (£15 approx is the going rate from online sources). Or be brave and try yourself it’s a pretty easy method: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1461515

Lots of good info here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...5#post22333925

Lots of good info here, download sources and reliable FSC sources if you go the paid route:
https://gpsunderground.com/forum/for...premium-2018-1

At all costs avoid the dealers to get any updates unless you’re feeling flush and don’t mind handing over a wedge of cash.

Don’t forget as undecided1 mentioned confirm what mapping variant you need by the method stated and download that version. The process is still the same just a variation on the map files.

There is a thread in the nav section on this forum on how to get the FSC code for free. There is no being brave it's literally the easiest thing to do if you can plug a USB into a socket.

It also gives links to the maps and all the instructions and info you need.

I've been tempted to update my cic and maps but as it's retro fitted into a 2006 car I'm worried something will smell a rat (system not correct for my cars VIN) and wipe everything so as it works well and the maps aren't ancient (2014) I just keep deciding to leave well alone.

If it's not scripted you should be able to update fine I believe, method using the 1b file should be ok as 1b is from cic so should have the other vin in it hence generating map codes from it should work with that cic unit. If it doesn't like the code it just won't accept it/start the update so can't see there being an issue, can always reload the old map data if need to (is it 2014-1 ? I have genuine bmw DVDs of that one)
