I have a 07 328i, production date of 09/06 with FRM1, and I want to upgrade my FRM so I can have angel eyes as DRL without any other light on(amber corners or tails). I have adaptive headlights so i want to make sure i get the right one.
Would this FRM3 work or do i need the Max Brose? https://www.ebay.com/itm/08-13-BMW-E...frcectupt=true Thanks for your help guys!! |

Car is 07 328i with production date of 09/06. I have sp daten v60.1. I downloaded v66 today but haven't reflashed yet.
I installed the frm3 max brose I bought. Before I did any programming or coding everything still worked. There are a few differences though. Flash to pass is now bi xenon instead of halogen. The halogens now turn on when I make turns depending on which direction. The emergency light double flicker for every pulse and my windows have forgotten their limits (roll back down to halfway if I close it all the way) Adaptives xenons still work, all turns, fogs, reverse, and rear fogs still work as intended. So I flashed my Vin first with winkfp using update option. The initial ZB number was 9390491 and winkfp changed it to 6826064. Gave me no other options. I went into NCSexpert. F1, F3, E89, choose CAS for my VIN and VO. I had FRM and NFRM as options as well. Either one would show the donor car VIN and VO. I closed NCSexpert. I tried to change VIN with Tool32. When I go to open .prg file, I had FRM_70, FRM_81, FRM_87 & FRM3. I went into INPA and it shows FRM_70. I open FRM_70 and change VIN with c_fg_shreiben. FRM shows my VIN last 7 in INPA and Tool32. I go back to NCSexpert and VIN and VO is still unchanged for FRM and NFRM. CAS is good. So I load CAS, choose ecu "FRM" and FA Write. still no NFRM in choose ecu. One thing I noticed when I choose FRM is it shows FRM_87 in the info box that popped up. Anyway after using FA write on "FRM" the VO for FRM & NFRM now matches my VO from the CAS. The VIN is still the donor car for both. This is where I'm at. Everything still works. No dash errors. windows are annoying AF. I have not tried default coding the FRM and I still have no NFRM option. I did not do date change because I thought FRM3 did not need to. I have lots of pics but they keep coming in sideways on my phone. Hope I described it good enough. Last edited by nerovega; 03-22-2019 at 08:53 PM.. |

Ran default coding on the "frm" thru ncsexpert expert profile. When I choose ecu "frm" a box called enter sget data appears. It shows frm_87 for the .prg file. INPA shows this new frm as frm_70. I selected ok and execute job to see what happens and get an error. pics of both attached.
sorry for bad pic quality. |

I did a FRM1 to FRM 3 conversion. You need to change the build date to 03/07 to code the FRM3 as a factory replacement. If you want to code the frm3 like a LCI car you will need to repin the side marker lights to the LCI locations and then code it as 03/11. Do not write the new build date to the FA.
You did not need to buy a Max Brose FRM. |

You are correct. Just add the change of date to the VO and then go back and code as normal. |

If so, you are on the right track. I think once you change the production date to 03/07 in the CAS, you'll be fine. Then use NCS Expert to write the vin to the NFRM |

yes, it shows with my vin and new zb num. I just got the alcantara boots and steering wheel surround so I'm cleaning the interior and will run ncs with date change when I'm done.

Changed the date to 0307 and got the NFRM to appear in choose ecu. Used fgnr_schreiben to write the VIN to the NFRM. Then default coded the NFRM. Both were successful. VIN and VO matches the CAS now. Thanks for the help guys!!
