The fun cost me around $1500.00 with installation, parts and wheel alignment from OffSett Motorwerks in Glendora, CA. I bought the rear sub-frame bushings and front sway bar from Getbmwparts for $600, I already had the M3 rear sway bar that I bought off the forum. OffSett Motorwerks had the front and rear control arms, already so the total was $2100.00 after it was all said and done. I got a great deal from Getbmwparts on parts so that is where I saved a bit on the overall cost. The labor cost may seem high but its normal I believe for the west coast.

I'm thinking of getting new exhaust tips. Anyone have any pics of theirs? I'm debating between Cyba 3.8 inch angled brushed aluminum or black chrome.

My car is black so I think the brushed aluminum would stand out more. The black chrome would definitely look nice too but it might be too close to the stock tips.

BTW do bigger tips affect the sound at all?

location of the tips actually do matter and should be carefully located. and i believe bigger tips do not affect the sound.

example. lexus ISF. fake "quad"

A couple months on OTS Cobb tune, so far so good. I'll be going protune once my DP's are in.

Im gonna go with 3.8 and have is sit flush with the diffuser like stock.

On a side note, how restrictive is the IS exhaust if I plan on tuning in the future? No point in putting on tips if I plan on switching out the whole exhaust.

you can always do a muffler delete and just add some piping as usual and then add the tips.

but sometimes, the stock IS mufflers are louder than the muffler delete, idk how that happens but it definitely seems louder at times with downpipes and stock IS muffler VS. downpipes and muffler delete.

Forgive my ignorance but can someone please explain how this Protune thing works? Do you first buy a Cobb AP and then buy a Protune? Or, do you purchase the Cobb thru Protune? And how is the Cobb reprogrammed? And finally, what's the ballpark cost? Looking for a birthday present. Thanks,

You buy the "tune" through a place like COBB. There are other tunes out there as well. Then you get it tuned by a pro. Hence the term pro tune. PTF (Pro Tuning Freaks) are an example of this. You can buy the tune straight through them if you like too. They will then make you a custom map tailored to your car for some extra $$$. You can use the COBB tune with their own off the shelf maps too. Those are free when you buy the tune. You're looking around $800 or so for just the tune. Do a google search for those names I mentioned for more detailed info and pricing. Hope that helps.
