Red air bag light

the red air bag light came on my dashboard after I replace the headlight lightbulbs, I recently read an article that mentioned it can trigger the light to come on. Per PiAA instructions I disconnected the negative pole form the battery when while doing the install, a few days later the red light came on. I do believe this is what triggered it in my case.

I found this place that sells a reset tool, looks like a great tool to have. I haven't bought it yet; however, I will and get back to you guys with the result.

I changed my tail lights to LCIs and the next day the sensors came on but I didn't disconnect the negative pole but I'm interested in your results

I had this issue, and it came down to repairing one of the wires that leads to the battery. Fixed without a problem, this was a year and a half or so back, when I first bought the car.

Code 93A8 "drivers airbag..."

This code (2006 E90) is getting more frequent; I now find myself clearing it weekly... The reading suggests either underseat harness - I've tried jiggling and contact-cleaner spray to no avail. Other links note intermittant contact in the clockspring/horn internals.

Is there any "fixed" success stories to help guide my process of elimination? It would seem that any 'real' issue - versus intermittant/poor connectivity - would return immediately versus after several days.

All insights appreciated. 'Wifeys car; so no-warning-lights or electrical-tape allowed ;-) ...Thanks, folks!

my passenger airbag light and passenger seatbelt light used to go on and off randomly. now both lights have been permanently on for over a year. i have a 2006 325i with manual seats.

can i take it to just any bmw dealership and they'll fix it for free?
or am i better off ordering the occupancy mat/sensor and doing it myself?

I've had this issue for a few years. I just called BMW NA and they also reiterated that there is a 15 yr warranty for it. The dealer will try to dissuade you with a scary diagnostic fee, but it IS covered.

Code it out and be done with it

I have a 2006, and it's just a sensitive set of wires or the seat sensor. I had this error for years, taking it apart, cleaning it, adjusting it, resetting it, it was so annoying to deal with. I had it coded out, it was a great relief. dealerships were all crap about fixing it.

has anyone has this problem before? what is the cause?

thanks
I currently have a 2009 328 Conv. And have the same problem with the passenger airbag. Took it to the dealer and was told that the fix was a $1200 cost. Said that it did not impair the functionality of the airbag but there is a short in the seat......somewhere. Is there a cheaper fix????

I've been thinking about ordering this, but would love to hear any feedback from anyone who has done it.

The downside seems to be that the airbag WILL go off in an accident where it might not have otherwise, causing more repair damage.

But, if I understand correctly, it will do that currently since the sensor has failed? (If not, it would be a serious safety issue... i.e.: sensor fails, airbag system fails.)

At least it would make the annoying light go off and return my clock in the dashboard.
