Has anyone done a centered exhaust mod ?
I have a 2009 E92 328i with manual transmission. Ultimately I'd like to buy the Performance Exhaust. However, I keep thinking it could pretty cool / unique to have a centered exhaust.
I've seen people who have gone to a 335i dual exhaust or faux m3 quad exhaust. Just curious if anyone has done a centered exhaust with two tips a la 911 GT3 or Mini Cooper. The issues I see are: 1)Would need to change the trunk liner to the M3/335i shallower version 2)Modify / add heat shield to M3/335i configuration 3)Modify diffuser to accept centrally located tips 4)Mounting points? 5)Which base exhaust / muffler to use? A. Modify M3 Exhaust to use the muffler housing but reroute / delete internal pipes and input and outputs? Reason being is it fills the space visually left to right. But so much modification probably means not worth it. B. Generic Borla or Magnaglow muffler C. John Cooper Works muffler / exhaust. D. Turn a PE exhaust upside down so the tips come out on the right side / instead of left. |

Is all of that work worth it for looks alone? That one above looks like two pea shooters. Just embrace the single exhaust you have!

I actually wanted to do that. I really like center exhausts and is definitely doable. I was going to take the msport rear bumper and make a new diffuser out of fiberglass. But buying the bumper itself kinda put me off because of the price.
I suppose you could take a grinder to the trunk floor and plastic weld it if you so inclined and put heat shielding material over it. If this was not my only car atm, i would totally do something crazy like that. Ala old 5 series just more modern |

I actually really like the position stock. You'd have an ugly hole where it's supposed to go in the bumper too
Whatever happens don't forget to post pics!!! |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EO2y_-vpolA&t=52s Will do but don't hold your breath. I just got the car and for me I have the next several years of mods laid out some of which might never happen. Apex wheels, 3 stage intake manifold, tune, AT rear differential (final drive ratio change), supsension, and exhaust. But to me the exhaust is the one that could be the most unique and intriguing project. |

Pics? I'm debating quads down the line, but some of the ones I've seen look too spaced out for me.
