Price question?

Hi all, first time poster… I'm looking at a 2006 330i. 72k miles. Black with brown leather. Sports, comfort, cold weather packages. Looks to be in good shape but the seller has only owned it for 9 months and doesn't have a history of repairs before his ownership. It is completely stock. With that minimal info, what would be a fair price? Thanks very much.

Its a bit difficult to "guess" at a price without at a minimum seeing some pictures of the car but with the currently high price market I wouldn't be a stretch to see them ask 5-7K... doesn't meant the car is worth it. There's tons of factors that can play a role here like whether the car has sports package premium package, etc.

More of a concern for me is why would someone buy a car and sell it 9 months later unless he is trying to flip it or something?

What has the current owner repaired?

With that low mileage, it should have newish plugs and newish brakes. And newish tires. That's really low miles for a 16 year old car.

Title status? Stick/auto? Can you provide a link to the vehicle or is this vehicle word of mouth and the seller is just ‘testing waters’?

Drive the car and look at its condition.
Check for leaks or any errors on the dash/engine codes.
At 72k miles, the interior and paint should look clean.

A well taken care of car will look well and run well.

I’ve seen cars with service records that are beat to hell. I’ve also seen cars with no service records in great condition.
5k if auto. 5-7k if MT.

make sure the car has not been wrecked, very low mileage can sometimes mean the car took a multi-year siesta in the bone yard

the market is out of control right now. my friend with a 2008 328xi auto said they were selling for $8k in NJ the other day with around 120k miles on them. location is an important factor.

Do it the right way, test drive it and get it up to temperature then look at the engine and underneath it for oil or other fluids. If it still looks good get a PPI and spend $200 on a professional evaluation, the money you spend will give you leverage if something is found and save you money and potential heartache. No history means a potentially abused car that has only been detailed in order to sell.
