As per Nick's previous advice, I'd go ET38 front & ET35 rear. Based on my own experience, a 275/30/19 tyre would go well on the rear as per my pics above, fronts, yes a 9J wheel will fit, could be either 235/35/19 or 245/35/19's.

Again I agree with Hotcoupe. Stick with 9.5" width at the back with an offset between ET35 and ET40. Dont go as high as ET45. Even with a 275 tyre, these will look lost in your arches. This offset is better suited to the earlier E46 models.

Just got a reply from the vendor who said he has sold a lot of 10j rears and that with the offset they will make and even lowering i will def not have any rubbing problems. He is recommending 8.5 up front and 10j rear. So i may just go with that. I really want a 275 rim on the rear 10j though. Hopefully even if arch work is needed it will still work.

Another revival...This thread is great.
I was wondering how different offsets effect the looks of the wheel itself. Does it makes a difference, or is it just the location of the wheel center compared to the wheel hub? rgj710 - what's the offset of your wheels? |

335i convertible
1 year on the following spec so far. It turned out to be a perfect fit looks and performance wise. Standard Msport suspension Rims: Front: 20x9 Deep concave Rear: 20x10.5 Massive concave Tyres: Front: Toyo Proxes T1 Sport 245/30 ZR20 90Y XL (should have been 245/35 but I took an additional risk there. No stability problems IMO) Rear: Toyo Proxes T1 Sport 265/30 ZR20 94Y Rubage for a while on speed humps but not recently. Need to check tyres to see the latest. |

Gentlemen, just bought a 2011 335i xdrive sedan with only 30K miles on it. I want to change all 4 tires. Door jamb says 225/45 R17 for front and rear. Any chance I can put on 245/45 R17? Will it hit the wheel wells on rough NYC roads or affect over/under steer? Any input is appreciated.
Thx. Nevin. |

Thanks snedanator. My rims are stock 17 x 8; so 8j. I like the idea of the 255s. When you say sloppy, will it affect the pickup and handling or just matter more at high speeds. Any chance of the 255's getting rubbed against the wheel wells? Also, as they are 255 40, its more low profile than 235 45, correct? That will be a more stiffer ride, no? I am a novice to all this, so just speaking out my thoughts. Thx again.

Not to dig up an old thread.......
But I recently picked up an 07' 335i with the factory 18" BMW wheels (see picture). The tires are shot and need to be replaced....and I'm wondering if I should go with the same size that the previous owners had on the car, or if I should go with something different. Currently, it's got 255/35/18's on the front, and 275/35/18's in the back. I don't mind having them a little wider than stock, but I don't want anything to rub. Should I put a different size tire on the tire, or just replace with the same size that's on there? Thanks! |
