Flex fuel would be sweet. Having a E85 only vehicle would be tough.

Even E85 at the pump is not always E85, it can be as low as E70. It would be nice to be able to run E25 or E50.
I guess for optimum performance you would have to have a ethanol sensor so you would know the ethanol content and adjust the tune accordingly.
Or just fill'er up with what ever ethanol content and let the DME do the rest.

You know my experience on this (hopefully a fluke) on the shakedown so far, any issues?

And this is the 330i shop car with the MILVs - no headers or exhaust right? Man, at FBO, there might be some serious gainssss.

minor issues with full e85 with burble enabled, other than that, so far so good and yes this is the same car with the lifter mod and no headers.

I was going to tell you to hurry up and get there lol. I want to see your results with the latest set up you’re doing before I sell my 3IM and fully commit to the N54.

I've been working from home for the past few months, but with this recent restructuring, I'll have to go back into the office. This means using my car as a daily driver and putting on like 25K miles a year (again)...so this may be it for me...

I still want that tune, so we'll see what happens.

Take Friday off.

Leave Thursday afternoon - around 3pm and be there by Friday AM. Get car tuned, sleep and make a long weekend trek back hitting Tail, etc. or if you hug the coast - take your SO to nice weekend in Charleston and stop by Savannah. Hilton Head is also really nice. Be back home by Sunday PM.

That was literally the plan last week. Take 2 days off (Thursday and Friday) and drive up there for the weekend while the car was being tuned. Take uber around, drink and sight see, and then drive back Sunday.

I'll try again in a week or two.

I feel you!
This pushed it back, that's fine and all, but the following weeks are what sucks. Lotsa stuff at work and I'm unsure as to whether or or I can take time off.
Bob told me they want to put a few hundred miles on the car before putting the option up for us. So ya boy has to hold off...

Bob, so what are we looking at as far as deposits building up by running E85/E50?

For what it's worth, when I fill my tank with 93, 1/4 e85, I feel that it pulls harder going up in rpms. No I haven't dyno'd, and no it's not a placebo. When you know how your car runs, and your doing mods, add ons, there is a difference. It does benifet our higher comp, as it cools, as we all know. So with a cool dense charge, high octane, your able to add more timing, and more fuel, but we all know this.

You're running a blend on an NA motor?

How about a meth injection tune?

With all of these smart tuners running around, how long will it be until I can use the multi-function buttons on my M Sport wheel to switch between tunes (regular vs. eth/meth), which will be visually verified on my gauge cluster's LCD panel?? Sounds like a perfect re-purposing of that absolutely worthless air recirc. button lol

Why run meth when you can run E85? The idea is not to have to switch at all, and filling up with regular E10 - E85 the tune would adjust accordingly.

The N51 might not see as large gains as the N52 on the basis of having a lower static compression ratio, and the fact that timing only does so much on these cars.

We'll see though.

Ah but wouldn't it only adjust accordingly if there is one of those "in-line sensors" Marty was referencing? A tune that adjusts based upon monitored E levels sounds pretty fancy indeed.

I really only mentioned meth injection for shits 'n giggles. Not everyone has access to E85 locally after all.

I did a local search where I'm at in SD and there's only 3 gas stations that offer it here. I already reached out to Bob about beta testing, waiting to hear back on additional details.
