Question ***help please*** crank pulley (harmonic balancer bolts)

Morning guys

I have a 2009 320d (N47)

My crank pulley (harmonic balancer) needs replacing - see photo....

I simply cannot undo the bolts...

Ive tried but it just spins the engine. tried impact gun no luck

Ive been advised to do it in 6th gear (manual) so the engine cant spin

The only threat i can find says to lock the engine with an allen key but that was a 335 engine, not my 320d N47....

Any help greatly appreciated

The BMW tool (copies are available through specialist tool stores and online) bolts in place of the idler pulley and clamps the harmonic balancer by the cutouts in the inner ring.

I've managed to get the bolts free by using the serpentine belt as a strap wrench or an air impact gun (engine was on a stand). You could also counter hold it using one of the remaining 4 bolts (rarely works) or remove the starter and have an assistant jam the flywheel with a prybar.

That is used on the chain side of the engine. You need this one: https://www.ozwidetools.com.au/bmw-c....0l-3.0l-n47-n
