Tony, the idrive controller is playing up so they need to recode it.

They might do, as there's no extra labour. It's basically ticking a check box to activate it. Ask nicely and you might be pleasantly suprised!!

The stealer will usually lubricate then replace if sticking again

It's not totally jerk free. The main reason they changed the gearbox is because you had to fight to get 1st and 2nd gears. It got easier as you went up through the gears. When they changed it I noticed a big difference, but I don't think it was ever as smooth as my old Audi.

The annoying thing was I never had a chance to test drive a manual car when I bought it. The only 330i demonstrator they had was an automatic. I asked if they could get a manual car in for me to test, but they said they couldn't do anything. This is a bit poor considering I was just about to part with £35k in cash. I'm thinking about getting an autobox next time, from another dealer.
