My dealer says no manual 335D because there isn't a strong enough gearbox available, so they are all singing off the same hymn sheet.

Anyway, I'll make do with a manual 330D, just can't wait!

It is from a standstill... but once on the move there's really nothing in it. However, accelerating through a corner, or going round a roundabout, I'd WHIP Carlos' butt... You'll LOSE buddy...!!!!!

The 335i is faster to 60mph and it will be quicker on a track.

In a 'drag' race from a rolling start the 335d will be able to keep up with a 335i, but that's just one situation.

Therefore Carlos Fandangos statement that there is FA in it is B*LLOCKs

I think that would be very interesting. In the meantime, as Lloyd Grossman said in 'through the keyhole':

Quote:
Let's look at the evidence
0-62 time - Official BMW figures for the coupe are:

335i - 5.5 secs
335d - 6.1 secs

1/4 mile time

The attached screenshot from drag times shows the infamous Carlos Fandango 335d run .. and quite a number of faster times for stock 335i's.

I thought that a 335i was faster than a 335d, because it gets from 0-62 more quickly and takes less time to cover the 1/4 mile.

Either I am in dreamland or Carlos is using an alternative from of physics.

everyday driving vs 0-60 or 1/4 mile.

That's the difference.

If every traffic light was a staging light the i would win everytime.

HOWEVER real life isn't like that and I think that's where the D advocates are coming from.... having followed the big D's i agree - not a lot in it.

The D also has an advantage in being easier to tune to stage 1 in the UK.

the 335i being a little more tricky

I drive a 335D ... but just don't see the fascination of 1/4 mile runs. A mildly trained chimp could just mash the pedal on the 335D and steer in a straight line. No skill needed whatsoever (you could even blind-fold the chimp and lock the steering wheel straight ahead)- all down to how BMW programs the ZF gearbox software and builds the engine. Y A W N. Zzzzzzzz... what does it prove ? Nothing at all about the skill of the chimp.

At least the 335i drivers actually have to choose when, and then physically swap cogs themselves. Bit of skill there - and chances to shave fractions of seconds off your run.

But even if a 335i could get to the 1/4 twice as quickly as a 335D it would mean nothing to me as I pootle to and fro from work ... surfing on my torque curve

nope still gonna do it, just going to let them sweat a bit before offering a lower price.

At the end of the day If i don't find a donar diff, I'll just have to stump up the full price to kevin, adds quite a bit, but that's tough I guess.

SJ

By the way have you checked that other BMW loom / harness plugs don't match or is that connector UNIQUE to the 335i ?

NFS, LIKE I HAVE SAID BEFORE

the 335D IS CAPABLE OF A MID 13 STOCK!!!

also most of those ARE USA CARS RUNNING DRAG RADIALS.

there is also alot more 335i being timed. I know i can live with a 335i all day long, (unless its SJ's) so NFS. Give up and get one. the 335i tho for you.
