Help with new wheels

Hi all,

Need new tyres soon, so not sure if I should change just the 4 on the M-Sport wheels to non-RFTs, or to get 19" wheels with non-RFTs.

I am thinking about these:

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/bmw...lack_wheel_402

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/bmw...ic_c_wheel_356

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/bmw...namic_wheel_91

The Hartge ones are taking my fancy, but expensive, or get the black ones, but then have to get blacklines too and it will look modified.

I want to keep a clean, OEM look... but the BMW 19" wheels are crazy prices, and not too keen on replicas.

Anyhow, I have a few weeks to decide... so please help.

Thanks,

Inaam

p.s. sorry about the links above, I am not too good at posting.

I know what you mean about the OEM look; I'm not a huge fan of aftermarket alloys. They have to be exactly the right ones IMHO. Personally, and for that reason, if I wasn't going for BMW wheels, I would have to go for a 'partner' ie Alpina, ACS, Hartge etc, but they're all expensive, and I'm not sure about reps either.

I also have a bit of a thing about mixing M Sport with other 'sporting' BMW partner brands. Though the Alpinas are lovely, I'd probably therefore go for the Hartges. Alternatively get non-RFTs and probably fall in love with a 'new car' all over again (haven't done it myself yet but drove E92Fan's 335 on 19s and non-RFTs with M Sport suspension, and the secondary ride was far better than on my car which is on 18s and M Sport suspension). The tyre option will be far cheaper too!!!

Good luck old chap and let us know what you decide.

I like them all - probably prefer the black ones though.

But, they all look a bit aftermarket to me. So if you really want an OEM look maybe best to just keep the Msport ones.

It's a fair amount of money just to go from 18 to 19 inch and I'm not sure you gain an awful lot visually.

19" Hartge Classic 2 wheels are my favourites. Agree that BMW prices for 19s are steep

hmm... thanks so far to you both..

I am also keen on the blacks but then will come some window tint and subtle additions.. will be too modified for me right now. I park in areas where I don't want too much attention sometimes.

Also feel that mixing the brands is not right... lol... the whole M with Alpina.

The Hartge are the ones that really draw me in and I could get just get BMW centres on them.

Also with almost 20k/yr mileage i will go for non-rfts and they will last longer and be more comfy.

Hmm... hmm.. hmm.. need more opinions :-)

I have no complaints with my RFTs although many members on here prefer non-RFTs. Had mine 2.5 yrs. Although I only do 10k a year, not 20k!

Hartge wheels are the best imo

thanks....

any ideas on where to get tyres at a reasonable price? As of course with tyres its all over £2k which is too much for me at the moment.

I might just get MSport wheels shod in non-rfts.. will be more comfy and just as "fun" for me, also the visuals might not be too different at a cost of 2k.

any online tyre suppliers recommended?

The Hartge wheels were one of my fav's, although in the flesh they did not look so good IMO
The Alpina's are V nice, but wheels are very subjective,so it's really up to you with what you go with.
Both OliH and Roofer run Alpinas, although different styles.

Roofers alpinas:

OliH's Alpina's:

I personally would not dismiss reps, as some are very hard to distinguish from the real ones, however be careful to check the weights of reps over OEM as there can be quite a difference.
Be VERY careful with offsets also,as many have come unstuck buying wheels that do not fit for a variety of reasons.

Try these sites, plenty of choice and a lot cheaper then those from your links:

http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/index.p...t_add_ad_cat=0

Have a word with Mark @ bmautosport on 01323 647222 or 07909 900222, tell him what you've got car wise and he'll give you some choices,he's a top guy on wheels/tyres.

Other link:
http://www.bmwmstyle.co.uk/E90-Alloys.htm

M6 Alloys (from BM autosport) - 20" X 8.5,£599 without tyres,or a quid short of a £1000 with tyres.(not sure they will fit,but nice all the same,Mark will tell you)

Ebay and Piston heads are good sources also,Ebay is predominanty reps, however if you search using 'Genuine BMW wheels' that's what you get, although wheels for E90/1/2/3 are quite rare.

Good luck and happy hunting.

The website "alloywheelsdirect" can supply tyres with the wheels - it said £795 for 4 Bridgestones or £895 for 4 Michelins I think
