BT Microphone Sensitivity
Normally my use of the BT system is limited to direct one on one calls and I've been told that people cannot tell I'm on a car phone when the windows are up. However from time to time I get on conference bridges with many people and it seems that with all the background noise on those calls, my car's microphone apparently cuts out and people can't hear me. Has anyone else observed this and does anyone know of a way to improve the microphone sensitivity?

Teleconferences have problems when a lot of people join.
Many of those joiners will be using speakerphones. Some of those speakerphones will be of low quality. These low quality speakerphones only let audio go in one direction at a time. What I've found is if these people don't mute their phone, simply breathing will be enough for the phone to think "Hey, my user is talking, let me mute the speaker." So, if your audio is fine for one-on-one calls, then there's really nothing to adjust, you're talking about a general teleconference issue that I run into day after day after day. These days I get a bit uppity about it and tell people to mute unless they're talking. Unfortunately, if I'm in the car this means having the phone handy and using the mute button liberally as BMW didn't provide that particular option w/BT... |

Ja, usually the problem would be the opposite - ambient noise (wind noise etc.) from your call into the conf. bridge would take over the mic.
Conf. calls are frequently dodgy to begin with. I was on a conf. call last week where it magically transported me to a totally different call (in a different language I might add). But the first respondent is correct - nothing you can do.

Actually it's on my list of things to do, but IBM isn't supporting the 650 in their pervasive computing initiative. On top of that, I'd also have use another instant messaging chat client for my customer which I'm 99.999% sure doesn't run on these phones.

But frankly I'm not ready to accept that answer because any other phone I use doesn't have this problem, so the problem is definitely with the car setup. We need to petition BMW for a mute button.
