Combox Coding With Protool

I'm sure a lot of us out there know about Bimmergeeks and their Software Protool that allows for coding/programming and diagnostics. My issue is I'm trying to code a Combox to my Early 2011 M3. I was able to get a Combox Telematics for a great deal and decided to give it a try.

It originally had Mulf2 and TCU. I did the repin method and triple checked the connections before finalizing everything. I then went over it once more so I'm pretty confident the wiring is at least perfect for media (I followed a few methods. Some mentioned using both power and ground from the two original models while other said you only need to power pin #2).

Onto the coding side. I do have ncsexpert and all the standard tools but my computer isn't the most reliable. I invested into the protool as it's a very power tool and almost as good as the standard tools. Following another guide I saw you have to add the follow to the VO: $614, $615, $644; $6AL; $6FL; $6NF; $6VC. Also add new age of #0410. Here's where the problems start to begin, On the protool I don't see $6AL and I have no clue what that adds, it could be my issue for all I know. Also for the age #0410 isn't there so I did #0610 (the closest one available to #0410). Next is coding CIC to CONNECTED_DRIVE to activ ONLINE_BROWSER_C0D to beide_activ ONLINE_BROWSER_LIVE to activ And coding Combox media to TELEMATIK_VIN to coding_vin. Of all of those the only one that is there is ONLINE_BROWSER_C0D. So again another spot where coding could not be completed.

The end results are I can see Bluetooth added into the CD/Multimedia section. Bluetooth does not work and just says "please wait". USB port no longer has power and the aux plays no sound (I had $6FL default). PDC still works and Radio still works.

My question is can I use ProTools to successfully code the Combox or will I have to work through my unreliable computer? ProTools is definitely very powerful and a lot more simple but there are some options missing for me it seems.

6al is BMW apps as I recall. I did all my combox coding with Protool, but I had a combox in my 2011.5 and just added several things including enhanced bluetooth. I had to put the production date at 03/11 to get everything to work.

Also, did you save the VO changes to both CAS and FRM and then default code the CIC and Combox?

Truthfully I'm still waiting for the most loop so that could be the issue. Or it could be that even with me triple checking the pins I could have messed up.

And yes I did change the vo for both CAS and FRM followed by the default code. It shows Bluetooth on the Idrive but it just continues to say please wait.

Did you default code media as well? Can't just default code CIC

What section is media under? I think that's where I was struggling.

At least in my case, it isn't listed as that, it is combox. I know that varies. Same thing.

If your most loop isn't done as you mentioned, that is very likely the issue.

I have my loop coming in today so hopefully I can get it worked out. I'll report back If that's all it was or not.

Well I feel silly. Connected the most loop and everything works perfectly now. Didn't realize how important that one piece is.
