This maybe a noob question, but what is so special about E85 fuel?

By the way my new office is in Guelph, so if I know where this place is I can get it for someone

I'd ask you to get me some, but if you got me 30 litres it would last me only a week... we need some damn e85 pumps in the area.

Similar performance - not so similar pricing.

per gallon perhaps but:
+ travel time
+ fuel consumed to get to guelph and back, e85 burns faster than race fuel doesn't it?

Personally, I wouldn't waste time driving up there when pro fuels is much closer, whats the difference, a couple of bucks at the end of the day?

For someone like Farley it makes sense. Obviously not for someone making a drive out just to get some e85.

If I worked in guelph, I'd have e85 in every single fillup I do.

Haha, well yeah that makes sense since the average person doesn't pump gas everyday after work.

Okay you guys are getting really excited about E85, from what I read it is better for the environment and it is cheaper then 94 oct, but you really don't save in mileage, so what make it so special? There is a gas station in Cambridge that sells it which is on the way to my mother's home in Brantford. Should I fill it up and see what it does for my 335is?

E85 is only.useful if you have a specific map to reap the benefits...further advancing timing and raising boost. Either that or try the "autotune" map for piggyback owners. I think a 50/50 e85/pump gas mix is most our fuel pumps can handle

Jb4's autotune would be a better option since ethanol doesn't really have any consistency station to station or even fillup to fillup. You could be running fine one day and the next day you can be dropping timing all over the place. Unless you throw in one of those sensors of course... or just don't tune to the limits.

Having a tune makes sense, but you don't necessarily need to start running more advance or shooting up the boost. It could be as simple as looking at your logs and realizing your current setup is a tad bit aggressive and then throwing in some e85. Of course running more ignition advance with lower afr targets is where the powers at though.

Now just if e85 cooled your charge air, we wouldn't need this methanol crap
