N53 Exhaust Options?
Sadly the PE for the 330i has been discontinued by BMW.
I'm after a little extra sound, perhaps the odd crackle without anything too obnoxious or expensive. Heard mixed reviews on eissenmann. Is the golf tee mod worth doing as a starting point, is there any break in period with it? Any other exhaust options or brands people have used on their inline 6 engines? |

That's a real bummer that BMW have withdrawn it. It's the go-to option for improving the straight-six exhaust sound. I'm sure I've read that Eisenmann actually manufacture the PE, so I don't think you'll go far wrong with them.
Also worth keeping you eye on the classified section on this forum, as they do occasionally pop up when someone's de-modding their car before sale... P.S. When I was looking into an exhaust for mine, I did also consider this: https://www.corsaperformance.com/col...xle-back-14564 Although it's for the 135i, it's for a single pipe system and I think it would fit your car. Oh and another option to consider is Supersprint: https://www.supersprint.com/ww-en/sp...engine-07.aspx

Have they discontinued it for the 335i as well or is it just the 330i? This would definitely be a factor in my decision of which car to go for between the two...

Think it's still available for the 335i, but definitely discontinued for the 330i. I've searched everywhere for one but nothing.

Looking at the performance exhaust against my chassis number (E90 325i N53) they're listing 18 30 2 217 675 as the performance exhaust suitable and that it's available.
Did you want me to check against your chassis number on the BMW portal to see if it's actually still available?

Op....check out Active AutoWerke. I have their Gen2 axel back and catless headers. Great quality, fitment, sound and price. A lot of members on here are running their stuff.

Might be worth looking into. I think the only difference between the 325i and 330i PEs is the exhaust flap, which can be disabled as you know ('golf tee mod').

Got the PE on our N53 330i.
Note is subtle - sounds great from outside the car but not noticeable inside unless you have the windows down and wind it up to above 5k rpm. Think this is due to the extra cats the N53 has (NOx cats) that absorb much of the glorious sound over the N52 engined cars. |

I would think the 325i one would still fit minus the valve that can be disconnected on the 330i one. VIN is - WBAWE72060PG15340 |

ETK lists 18 10 2 208 791 as suitable for you car, bizarrely it still lists it as in production - not discontinued or suspended! Hope this helps

I've got my 330i booked in for the 18th to have the custom backbox installed.
The garage will first cut the existing backbox off so I can test drive the car without it. If there's no drone at motorway speeds then I'll just get the straight through pipe welded in. I'll get the before/after video once its all done. |

Did we determine if the 325i exhaust fits the 330i but lacks the variable exhaust flap?
I have mine disabled anyway, so compatibility gives a bigger market to chose from. |
