Driver / Vehicle Mismatch???

Do you ever see someone driving a car and think it's an odd choice for the driver???

This is going to come over all sexist but I spotted a lady this morning driving a 550i and thought it was an odd choice. I mean, why go for such a powerful uneconomical car, surely a 530i would have sufficed, or even any of the 'd' flavours. It was an 07 plate so probably not really worth a massive amount financially but the running costs must be pretty high.

Yes, OK, it could have been her husbands car and she'd left the 500c at home, but you see this quite often.

I often see women around here driving around in 911 Turbo's, with a femanine reg plate (so obviously theirs), and that really defeats me - that said, I'm sure that's actually jealousy on my part

Anyway, thought I'd share, maybe I'm just being a nob!!!

...but if a bloke was driving none of the above would apply? You say it's odd that a woman was driving it but then go on to point out why it's a mad car for anyone to drive. I'm missing your point.

Roger, do you think people draw conclusions on your sexuality by the car you drive?

I saw a vehicle mismatch this morning. I was driving along and looked out my window only to see this scruffy looking 30 something driving a mobile hairdressing unit. I then realised it was my own reflection.

So you're basically saying woman shouldn't drive fast cars?

Didn't realise the driver of a hairdressers convertible 2 door would at the same time by hypocritial enough to chastise a woman for driving a 911 ?

But anyway. When I see a woman in their own cayman S or turbo, M3 etc etc. It's a pretty serious turn-on. Same as the Sabine factor. An otherwise average or slightly below average lass goes up at least 2 grades if she is a keen driver in a good car.

Heh.

My point wasn't to be taken overly seriously but it's just how my mind works sometimes. Yes, a 550i is a daft car for anyone to own really (like a million other daft cars that we all lust for), but you can almost understand a man buying one as traditionally we drive faster, harder and tend to be more interested in our cars than women (stereotyping I know!!) - just look at the male/female ratio on this forum. I bet hair & make-up forums are the polar opposite .

Quite, you could look at me, driving a gay hairdressers car, so I'll leave the attendees of NM4 to jugde whether it's a shock or not for me to drive such a car .

Now don't start me on women being fanatical football fans .

Minis often seem the choice of the young hot things, although loads of middle to older aged women also seem to drive them.

Have often thought being a Mini salesman can't be a bad occupation for bird watching.

I totally get the point here.

Couple of months ago I passed a C63 Black edition with the big massive spoiler on the back. The car was in a kind of gulf racing blue colour (was a very bright pale blue). As I passed I expected to see some young nightclub owner type behind the wheel (you know the type, trendy hair and all that shite). Instead it was a rather respectable looking grey haired older man wearing a pink Pringle v-neck.

The Z4 coupe I looked at was another mismatch. The owner was a tiny little speccy baldy accountant looking guy wearing an anorak and everything. He looked like a little kid riding his big brothers bike when he drove it and I got the sense he was a bit scared of it. It just didn't suit his very quiet personality.

So your point is a grey hair, pink pringle v neck flouting man (jeremy clarkson) is less offensive than the nightclub owner? and thats quite a fair bit of detail you picked up on... stairing for long were we?

Also like Mega said, girls with fast cars is a nice sight, and not to flame the O.P on the 370z I have no opinions on it being a hairdressers car, however I do have an opinion when it comes to girls, in fact I am willing to bet that Sabine would smoke you around any track.

I see a guy in an 8P S3 regularly who's older than God, has car park scuffs and dings all round his car, can't actually get in and out of it very well and makes everyone wince when he pulls in to the local supermarket. I often wonder what on earth he was thinking buying that car. Or how much the salesmen at Sheffield Audi must rub their hands together when they see him.

+1
Cant comment on mis match profiling of drivers against their cars, however Sales department at Audi is well trained compared to BMs.

To be fair, fit girls/laydees in any situation generally makes a nice sight

Oh, and I'm also willing to bet many a drive would smoke me round a track, I'd be too worried about ruining my new bouffant .

A customer of mine, a publican well into her 70s drives a 2005 M3 smg which she has owned from new. I guess that sounds sexist and ageist!

My boss (mid 50's lady) just bought a new c63 AMG coupe. She is a slow driver who previously had a c320cdi. I asked her why the new car? She said she liked the look of it!

My GF has a mini cooper. She never revs it over 3,000rpm and generally potters around. She regularly tells me how she'd like a Cooper S!

Its not just women though.. A few people on here ask about converting their 318d to an M3!!! Sacrilege!

I'm sure there are more than a few people on here whose wives/girlfriends have a car on the basis of you having chosen it. For example the guy who just added a BBK to his wifes 335i - I doubt she would notice the difference!!
