Garage List
Interesting day for my car.

Last night I noticed my car was making a strange humming noise as I pulled into the garage. After some more messing around today I found that my bov isn't being held shut at idle. Vacuum tubing is fine and it still pulls strong with no apparent leaks. However once I start to come to a stop, my car starts to sound like a train, very ghetto. I'm pretty sure it's the bov itself, I'm going to take it apart and see if I can adjust something on it.

Also, I feel dumb for not noticing earlier, especially after installing my DCI and charge pipe, but my car is missing it's front strut braces. I bought it used in November, no accident history on record, it came with all the receipts from classic as well. They did a good bit of maintenance work in December and didn't notice. I have another forum member shipping me his on Monday but i'm still very curious as to what happened to the original pair. If anyone local has a set, PM me.

For those of you who frequent Cars N Coffee...Few buddies of mine planning on rolling in to April show. Caravan should be arriving around 750am. After reading these posts what time you guys recommend? Last time about 12 cars deep arrived around 755am and parking not a problem. However that was last Feb. and if weather is nicer I'm assuming will be a mess for April show.

Any advice Greatly Appreciated.

I got there at 7:41AM and barely got to park in FRONT of edwards car. He said that he got there around 7:25AM and after a few minutes the place got packed quickly between around 7:30-7:40AM. If you have 12 cars deep, I would probably get there pretty early...

This is Crazy Posting
Wife and I both went with Conti Extreme Contact DWS. Much smoother and quieter ride and no where close to the price of OEM tires. DWS not really needed here but we learned our lesson two Feb. ago so as saying goes better safe than sorry.

As for the wife/GF part careful hombre. Fun and games but in the end it bites like a poisonous Viper. My 2 cents

I've got the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and they are awesome.

How do those perform in cold weather? Dallas doesn't get a ton of cold weather, but we do get it. I ask because I just posted a thread yesterday in the Tire board about good tires. I have the OEM Runflats as well, and not only are they expensive but they have horrible traction. I know it is hard to leave a stoplight with bumps in the intersection on WOT unless you have awd, but myself and others think that my car is just way way way to sensitive to bumps in the road.

I haven't had them long enough to really know how they do in the cold, but the ride quality is enough for me. The stock RFT have an unbelievably low treadwear rating of 140, but like you said they definitely didn't have the traction IMO. The P2S's are rated at 300, but they grip really well and they're much more affordable and should last longer too.

How do they compare to the Pirelli PZero. They both show as Max Performance Summer at TireRack, and I've heard some good reviews on them on other non-BMW turbo cars.

I would suggest the hancook V12's. They are ok, but they are cheap. If you want to spend a bit more go conti, if you want to spend more than that go Michelin. I run Nitto Invo's, but they are not too quiet, but hey handle well on the track (for a non R compound).

My $0.02. Also , listen to the wisdom of Tomato...if you are in fact running the wife/Gf scenario. They all end the same brotha, and it ain't pretty, particularly if you have kids.

+1 on the Hancocks. I used to run those on my E39, and they were fairly cheap and decent quality (but that car was slow, so.....)
I now have Toyo Proxes and love them (although they are not that quiet), but those are not easy on the wallet.

Oh, and +1000 to what everyone said about the wife/gf thing. You're on borrowed time, man. And I'm not just saying that b/c I'm a girl. These stories always have the same ending, and it's never a happy one. Tread carefully.

lol i was thinking you meant that... good thing lol..

I had stock RFT conti's before... and within less than a year, i had wire showing in my rears. i don't do burnouts, only WOT launches, so there's a little wheelspin there of course.. I got rid of those and got some Ventus12s with my new wheels and I'm loving them thus far. Hard to compare though... since I went up from stock 17"s to staggered 18"s... 265 in the back from 225. Me likey.
