risk free.... depends on ur deffiniton of risk i and in the same boat as u deciding weather or not the lower my e 92 and here is what i have found. springs are good and one of the cheaper ways to go and when i say cheaper i mean cost wise not quality... but if you use your car as a daily driver i wouldn't drop the car too much because you will have to be really careful when u drive not to damage anything but the do wear on your struts but its not that bad... you can go with coilovers which are more money but worth it because u can always adjust the height... but if u want a little drop just to fill the wheel gap you can use wheel percheswith will give you about .5 or a drop and if u increase wheel and tire size u can get a good look out of it

I don't see any real big complications. Springs will wear out stock shocks/struts faster than normal but nothing to be worried about. I had springs on my last 2 cars for over 60k miles and never had a problem. I just lowered my 2010 e90 on Tein S-techs and paid $140 for springs off eBay and $150 for install (not including $20 tip) total $310. Pretty good deal in my book!!

if shops around me charged that little i'd never work on my car. shops in my city charge 4-700 for suspension.

That's nuts. I got three quotes for my springs $250, $220 and $150. The $150 quote was by someone who 3 forum members referred me to in my area. The springs were installed in less than 2 hours with plenty of talking and joking in between.
