I should ask you to ship me M Performance then! They are about $200 less than here

Ha, I was all set up to get the blank rotor too, but it would be rude not to get the M Performance discs now!

I'm considering Zimmermann rear 336x22mm discs as they offer them with holes whereas OEM BMW are only blanks.

Any ideas about that brand - or is it best to stick to OEM?

OEM as in they make them for BMW?

Or OEM as in they are of the same quality?

I will be going with M Performance fronts, as I like the alloy bell!

It's my standard 336mm rears I'm considering using Zimmermann for.

In this case OEM as in they are of the same quality but if you want the 2-piece for the alloy bell you will need ATE as Zimmermann are one piece cast iron.

Ah OK, I know I won't get an alloy bell for the rear 336mm disc, as it's only a 1 piece cast item.

As I say for the 370mm fronts I'll be going OEM M Performance

Not sure but that isn't an E8x / E9x BMW Performance rear disc.

OEM E8x / E9x BMW Performance rears look like this for the 135i 2 pot Brembo (my current rear set up)

As you can see there is no alloy bell - only the fronts.

However my new set up will consist of removing the the full 135i kit (6 pot / 2pot) and the following will replace it:

FRONT: F3x 4 pot 370/380mm Brembo caliper with 370mm M Performance disc (dimpled / slotted)

REAR: Stock single piston sliding caliper rear (rebuilt and powder coated to match the front colour) fitted with stock 336mm disc (without holes)

In fact I picked up the rear parts today from the dealers. My front 370mm M Performance discs and backing plates will be ready on Tuesday.

That would be significant increase in size. You will be happy will the result.

Yeh, thats why I have forgone the rear 135i 2 pot caliper.

While it looks much nicer than a standard sliding caliper, the disc just looks too small behind 19" rims. These 336mm rears should help the situation!

Getting so much conflicting info about the colour code of the blue 4 pots though.

Some say Monte Carlo blue, some say Interlagos blue.... then just to add confusion to the mix I've seen mention of Estoril blue being the closest match.....

Also - final couple of questions regarding pedal feel.

Obviously I will be running the stock rear set up and the new 4 pot front.

I know you said that pad choice and disc choice can also have an effect on the pedal feel. I will be running OEM pads front and rear. Plain disc rear and the dimpled/ slotted disc front.

What can I expect those choices to do to the pedal feel? I'm very paranoid that its going to feel awful - read too many comments about the pedal feeling soft once these have been fitted.

Do I need the M3 master, or is that going to be overkill for this set up? How about braided lines, are they required to firm up the pedal?

Before you mount the front f30 calipers take them to any bodyshop. They all have scanners and can mix you a paint right on the spot with almost 100% accuracy.

Stock pads will yield good initial bite. But M Sport pads. Or the regular 340mm 4pot from the F30 335i pads. The M Performance are described as dull. The braided lines will offer firmer pedal. Make sure you properly bleed the system and bed in the brakes and you will be all set.
You can read here about the front pads. I run CoolCarbon

I didn't read this thread. I just saw the question about Zimmermann, which are oem rotors for E90's. Just wanted save whoever a few bucks buying the same rotors without the BMW stamp. I have no idea who makes F30 or M Performance rotors.

My calipers are coming with: 34116859282 according to the eBay listing.

I believe this pad has since been replaced by: 34116865460 as of 25/08/15

Are these the "better" M Sport pads?

They don't seem to be the pads listed for the M Performance brake kit, which I think is: 34116859066

Correct,34116859282 was superceded by 34116865460 and they have better initial bite but more brake dust compared to M Performance 34116859066.

R99 - You need to start using leebman24.de for your genuine bmw parts. Almost always cheaper than dealers and most retailers. The m performance discs you got are £175 from there.

Look forward to seeing your set up

Excellent news.

So regarding the M3 master - you don't think I will require it?

Install the brakes and see how you like the pedal feel. I track my car and prefer stiffer pedal. So after one season I upgraded the master cylinder. It was not too soft just not to my liking.

OK - good advice!

I have been looking into HEL brake lines, and it suggests for the front of the E90 there is just 1 set of lines (1 per side).

However for the rear the kit contains 4 lines (2 per side) wonder why this is - as it makes the kit quite expensive!!
