VTT Stage 1 longevity

Hey guys. Has anyone been running these turbos in a daily driven 35i for over a year?

Most of our Stage 1's go to DD vehicles, Stage 1's are a very popular replacement and they have great reliability. There are a few guys out there with 50k+ on Stage 1's (same on Stage 2/2+ but people do tend to drive less with 600+ whp… car seems to become more of a weekend toy). I realize you're looking for customer feedback here but feel free to shoot me an email if I can help you out at all.

Have couple of sets I tuned running 40k+ miles now and another set being abused at the track every weekend so longevity isn't the issue

pretty small sample size to conclude that...

+1

i have the same question. I had my local shop order and install VTT stage 1 turbos, I will most likely be running them maxed out on the weekend with a e50 tune and whatever i can get out of pump gas during the weekdays.

I have heard good things as far a longevity but what does Tony@vargasturbotech have to say as far as how long they should last?

Gothca.

1. How long are they predicted to last running at full capacity?

2. what power numbers can i expect, for AWD, FBO, E60 + inlets?

3. Hows warranty if they blow up on me?

Thanks

1: No such thing as "full capacity" in an easy to convey manner. Longevity is tied to a few things, such as maintenance (oil changes... boost leak check....etc.). Shaft speed is the big deal. If you're asking me on a max effort tune how long they will last -well, there are some guys running 30+ psi in the midrange and 100% wgdc after that. Not much will last longterm run like that. Basically treat them like stock turbos with just a little more flow up top. They're still turbine limited, just a better compressor.

2: Depends on motor health, mods, altitude, etc. We've seen nice curves with 475 ish whp held nicely almost to redline (quite a bit of a difference compared to stockers at top, even if the peak numbers aren't that much different). The highest I've seen is probably Steve Nelson's who I believe did in the vicinity of 520 whp.

3: All warranty terms are on the website. That said, we do try to work with customers.

A better way to go about this is to tell me what your power goals, driving style, mods, fuel, etc. all is, and we can suggest a turbo to best fit your needs. I normally do that via email but am happy to do so here if you'd like. Email is always fastest.
